You probably have this covered, but do you have any Prof or Grad student friends who preferably have served on the admissions committee for the U of MN grad program who can review your essay statement? It'd be a good thing to get some feedback about it.

Anyway, a little unsolicited advice. Good luck with it, I expect you are a strong candidate.

Good luck! Especially with the timing of the letters of recommendation - those can be maddening to get. I hope your recommenders are quick!
