I'm so glad you wrote all of this! And that you got to go! I also wish I had more time on the coast, east of the Ring of Kerry area. Next time ( ... )

Thank you for reading all of this! I love your notes. Hee.

1. My friend Annie told me about it. It's right near the park with the Oscar Wilde statue. Next door to the National Gallery, basically.
2. Originally it was Europcar (which I think is National). They were also eejits. But man, your Hertz lady sounds worse!
3. Ha! Glad it wasn't just me. I bet we're not the only ones who hit a bunch of shrubbery.
4. Yay! Thank you!! It was the first picture I took on the trip that I was really happy with.
5. It's "In This House of Brede" by Rumer Godden. (Trivia: Demi Moore's daughter Rumer is named after Rumer Godden.) If you read it, definitely let me know what you think!
6. Sasha is wise. Although if you had better meals in Ireland than in Italy, something is very wrong!
7. It's weird, because you'd think it would be the opposite--that you get used to the gorgeousness everywhere. But I did have jetlag for like five days, so you could be right. But yeah, me too. When I go back to Ireland, I'm going directly there.
8. Yay! Thank you!!

I can't believe you find magpies exotic and charming. I LOATHE fucking magpies. They are the bane of our existence up here.

So, should you ever be looking for a visit to magpies, come here! Much easier to get to and we drive on the right.

I'm glad you had such a good trip! I really like those kinds of solo vacations but I don't take them very often. You are an inspiring example!

Really? Well we don't have magpies, so I don't want to know why they are awful. I just found them charming! So definitely I will come visit you just for the magpies.

Ha! Says the girl who lived in Berkeley all by herself... you had a solo adventure too, lady! We both had awesome 2010s.:)

Do you know the rhyme we have in the UK about magpies? What will happen to you in the future is determined by how many magpies you spot together in one place:

"One for sorrow, Two for joy, Three for a girl and Four for a boy.
Five for silver, Six for gold, Seven for a secret, never to be told"

One is hugely unlucky, and to ward off the "sorrow", if you spot a solo magpie, you must salute it and say "Good morning Mr magpie, how are your wife and family?".

I can end up saluting a single magpie many times a day!!!!

All I saw were solo magpies! Well I'm glad it didn't mean I'd have bad luck on my trip. I bet they were special good luck solo magpies.
