Home Sick

I made it through finals week only to come for two weeks and end up on the couch feeling poorly. At least L and I had an enjoyable time on Whidbey at the fort picnicking and flying kites before the sore throat and fever caught up with me. However, enforced rest means more sleep, books, soccer games, and working on the exchange fic, so it isn't too ( Read more... )

Surgery???? Oh, dear. I hope it goes well! Have you seen a naturopath at all? There was talk of surgery on my arms at one point when we didn't have any idea of what was causing my chronic nerve pain, but the naturopath thought I might have a food allergy and she was right.

I think I'm going to go with 3rd limited POV. My problem, I decided last night when I couldn't fall asleep, is that I'm trying too hard to describe things in fancy ways. Simple and direct sentences seem to be the way to go.

Not quite H's POV... which should be challenging. H has a very interesting personality here... hopefully not OOC, but possibly what might happen due to set of particular circumstances... I won't say anymore publicly on LJ, though. :P

Thank you for the encouragement! I haven't been able to write while sick--every time I tried to return to the plot, my brain decided it was time for another nap--but I'm hoping to start again tonight.

Will you still be working on a gift?

3rd person limited is my default POV because you can use it like 1st person:

Hermione threw a piece of spaghetti at the wall, and it promptly vanished.

Odd.

She stuck her hand timidly out towards the wall and gasped when her hand passed through it. Of course! It was an illusion!

Plus, then you can do the same for another character in another chapter, if you like.

Urgh, feel better, my sweet! Rest well!

Thank you!!! I think limited is what I'm after--I just need to stop trying to be a sophisticated writer and just write what I'm trying to convey rather than use some sort of fancy description.

Still feeling poorly, but I'm sure my body is just grateful for the rest. :)

Delighted I could help- heaven knows I've done enough things wrong in my writing that I have a vast store of knowledge of how to Fix Stuff :D I know when I experimented with present tense last year that simple and clear is the best (my beta reader flat-out told me "this is unreadable"), and if it comes off as too terse, you can always make it prettier later.

Sweet, healing dreams to you!
