I'm listening^ to a beautiful rendition of the Barber violin concerto* by Gil Shaham, and was struck by his phrasing in a little technical section. I sometimes feel that way when I read Calvino or Nabokov - "I'll never be that good, so why even try?" But it's also inspiring to see someone doing what you want to do really well. Here's wishing you a very very speedy recovery!

And yay, what movements of B7 are you analyzing? Such a joyful piece! So glad you're finding time to relax a bit amidst all the work. Best of luck riding out the wave on finals week!

Thank you! :D I'm analyzing the first and second movements. The second is definitely my favorite. It is so brilliant and definitely more intricate than it looks! I have to analyze the entire first movement today, but luckily we spent several weeks studying sonata form. I'm hoping he doesn't use a lot of the nasty tricks he plays in other symphonies.
