A CAKE story... ;)

Chapter: 1 of ?
Pairing: Chris/Blake aka CAKE
Rating: PG for now
Summary: top 11 week, It was the day when Chris knew that he felt something about Blake
Disclaimer: Don’t own Chris nor Blake as much as I don’t own anyone right now :(...

Leaning on the comfort of the couch at the backstage, Chris looked intensely toward the screen. It was the second week of the spectacular show, meaning they were at the top 11 stage right now, and the theme of the week was British Invasion.

His best friend, Blake, was giving the audience another great performance of his on the stage of American Idol. Blake was singing “Time Of The Season” and Chris was somehow admitted that it wasn’t only the best performance of the night, but also the hottest one.

When the song ended and the judges gave their comments, Chris averted his gaze off the screen for awhile, reaching for a bottle of water on the desk in front of him and then gulped it down into his somehow dry mouth. It seemed that Blake’s performance had that effect on him of which he unintentionally swallowed his saliva down the throat anytime Blake made his natural-yet-sexual move. One could say that Chris was drooling over him, but right then, he didn’t realized that.

A second later, Blake entered the backstage, grinning like a Cheshire cat, moving toward Chris before collapsing beside him on the couch.

“Dude, did you see that?” Blake popped a question at Chris, still grinning from ear to ear.

Chris just chuckled hearing that rhetoric question, Blake loved to talk about his stage performance. He knew that Blake was a cocky guy whom loved to be the center of attention, but he also knew that Blake was truly a nice guy and not to mention fun and sexy as hell.

“I know, I couldn’t even believe it myself. I mean he was like hitting on me on stage like that, singing ‘who’s your daddy’!” Blake continued.

Chris’ expression turned into a frown as he realized that Blake wasn’t talking about his performance.

“What are you talking about?” Chris inquired.

Blake looked at him for a moment, giving him ‘you’ve gotta be kidding look’ at Chris but then acquired that Chris was oblivious about what he was talking. A small smile plastered on his face before he answered, “well, I think that Ryan was flirting at me on the stage.”

The information was like a ton of brick which slapped squarely on Chris’ face. ‘Really?!’, he thought to himself. He must’ve been missed the scene.

“I know it probably meant nothing, but gosh, that made my day,” Blake prolonged his talking, his smile got wider as he played the memory on his mind.

Chris still looked at him blankly as Blake carried on talking about the previous event that happened on the stage. Luckily, someone interrupted them, telling them that they should gather as the show was close to the end.

---

Later that night, Chris sat in the living room watching the record of the show in the apartment he shared with the other guys. He and the guys were reviewing the show, and when the record showed Blake’s performance, Chris finally got a hold on what had happened on the stage between Blake and Ryan Seacrest. Ryan was obviously flirting with Blake, even a hermit could see that. Suddenly, he felt a stab of pain in his gut, it was like something was eating him inside painfully slowly. He was finally getting a grasp of what Blake had said before on the backstage.

“Dude, are you okay?” Chris Sligh who was sitting on his right side asked with a concerned voice.

“I’m… um… okay…” Chris answered, somehow stuttering, “I guess I need to take a rest.”

With that, Chris left his remainder buddies and went toward his room. Once inside the room, he dropped his weight on the bed, feeling emotionally exhausted. Putting off the light, he tried himself to be drown in sleep. After tossing and turning for awhile, he knew that he couldn’t sleep while his head still filled with the thought of Blake.

He knew that he shouldn’t feel jealous. Blake wasn’t even his boyfriend, he was just a friend and nothing more. After all this time, he got closer with Blake, as they were roommate, and even considered him as one of his best friend. But one thing that he had to admit, that he was grew fond of Blake, hell, he even considered him as a sexy person.

The guys on the American Idol had known that Blake was gay and was proud of it, although Blake didn’t expose it publicly, but he never covered it either. Chris on the other hand considered himself as a bi-curious kind of guy. He’d dated lots of girls, but he knew that he could be interested in other male species, although he never had experienced with one. But now with Blake being so closed to him, he considered that it might be the time for him to explore the other side of him.

Chris knew that he got to do something so that Blake knew his state of heart, and mourning about what had happened wouldn’t lead him anywhere. He figured that it would be better for him to tell Blake what he’d been feeling sooner rather than later. But what would he say to him? Should he say something subtle, or something more straightforward.

A desperate sigh escaped from his mouth. He never had to went through this kind of thing before. Usually, it was people who threw themselves toward him, not the other way around. After a good hour, he finally managed to form some lines that he needed to say to Blake.

Chris was just getting up from his bed when the door to the room being opened and a moment later, Blake’s figure emerged into the room. Blake closed the door slowly, assuming that Chris had already sleeping, so he stopped dead in his track when he saw that Chris was still fully awake.

“I thought you’d be sleeping by now, didn’t you say that you need a rest?” Blake inquired. His voice filled with care and not with accusatory tone.

“I guess I’m not really tired after all,” Chris replied as a warm smile forming on his face.

“’Kay than,” Blake shrugged before continuing to walk toward the closet. He stripped his clothes, wearing only boxer before heading into bed.

Chris’ gaze followed Blake all the time, but before he knew it, Blake had already tucked inside the cover of his bed. The plan to talk with him had to wait until the following day as he noticed the steady breathing of Blake. Heaving a sigh, he leant back on his bed, and tried to sleep.

“Chris, are you sleeping, dude?” Blake’s soft voice cut the silence of the room.

Chris was just beginning to feel comfortable on his bed by then.

“Nope, not yet…”

Blake turned his body toward him, the illumination of the moonlight in the room defined Blake’s body in the dark. Chris knew that Blake wanted to talk about something, and he thought that it might be the time that he could speak his heart out.

“Do you think that there’s a chance with me and Ryan?” Blake asked innocently.

Chris hammered by the question, all of his will to talk had suddenly vanished in the night.

“I don’t know, Blake…” Chris said not really answering the question, “I guess I need my sleep now.”

Blake was kind of disappointed to hear Chris’ ignorance. It was so out of character of Chris. He was usually the one who cared about his friends, but tonight he was totally different.

‘Maybe he has some girl problem, I’d ask him tomorrow about it then…’ Blake thought. He took a deep breath, getting ready to sleep, wishing to have a beautiful dream of Ryan Seacrest that night.
