We do that at work (order in stuff from other stores/warehouse) but it's actually standard practice and not necessarily just Being Nice. But judging by some of our customers' impatience, you wouldn't think we were being nice, sometimes!

awww, well there was lots of rushing about and apologising to me - so they seemed very nice. I remember what being a shop assistant with grumpy customers was like so I feel your pain! So many people have done shop work at some point or another, you'd think they'd make some sort of effort to be a bit nicer :(
