Is it possible to love the episode without necessarily liking it?
There were so many great bits - Martha was totally awesome, she has to back for next series! Jack was a bit underused, but I guess he shone more in the last two eps and this was really Martha's episode. The face of Boe though? Really? Really really?! Kinda awesome, and totally unexpected to me at least, if a little weird!
The slashyness of the Master/Doctor was ridiculous, I mean brotherly love, whatever! They were totally gay. uh huh.
I pretty much guessed Lucy would be the one to off the Master. Perhaps it being so obvious was the sign of bad acting, but at the same time, did she actually say *anything* in this episode? The fact that I guessed it from simply from the way she acted - maybe she's not bad after all!
John Simm! Just amazing. Were it not sort of impossible now, I would say make him the next doctor after Tennant. Because he was just fabulous in this. The dancing, and the craziness, and the utter awesomeness of him is beyond good. My hopes for at least one series of Tennant keeping John Simm in the tardis as a sex slave pet prisoner were rather dashed :(
Overall I couldn't help but be a little disappointed though. I mean, it started so epic and the 'one year later' thing was a complete surprise, knocking me off balance straight away. And then for it all the just have never happened, almost? It felt a bit like cheating. I mean, it's only one step up from the 'and then it was all a dream' explanation. I would have liked more consequences.
Martha's plan was also a bit crap and ridiculous. And the CGI was terrible.
um, that is all, I think.
ETA: I remembereed another - their science is rubbish. Seriously, at least one person on set must have some kind of basic electrical knowledge right?
