Warm it Up, Kris

I began my microbiology course last night as my first step toward med school. This course is a combination lecture and lab. During the lab section, we had to heat a mixture of agar and tryptic soy broth to boiling and then cover Petri dishes with the substance. Getting the solution to a boil was a problem, as most tables' hot plates did not want ( Read more... )

Yes, professional school can be a bit of an adjustment in that way.

Did you know that ancient kephalopods had a barter economy long before humans existed? This it the origin of the term "squid pro quo".

Richland. One of my lab mates is enrolled in UTD, but says that the instructor for Micro and for Genetics, the same person, is so bad that people regularly take the course at a different university. Turns out Richland's labs are better stocked than UTD's.

Me, I'm taking it here because it's cheap and I can read a book.

I'm envious. Neither of the science classes I wanted to take (Orgy Chem I, Gen Phys I) were available at good times for me at RLC or Brookhaven. I have to hike all the way out to Irving to go to North Lake three times a week. :/

I am in love with DCCCD's tuition. It's going to hurt when I finally transfer to UTA.

Apparently you can't even take the girl out of Irving much less take Irving out of the girl. At least you get little India.

It is something special when the textbook for the course costs more than the course itself.

I suppose I'll have to take Orgy Chem I again. SN1, SN2, E1, and E2 reactions didn't sit well with me the first time. I suppose what really didn't sit well with me was the 07:30 time slot of that course. Always remember: heterolytic bond cleavage is the best type of cleavage.
