New Gaming Rig

Mar 07, 2008 02:22

Having been the brunt of many a jokes for the past 18 months or so because my gaming rig was "an HP Pavilion?!" I decided to order a new system.

I think I may have just sprouted another chest hair or two (bringing the total to about 15):

GIGABYTE GA-EX38-DS4 LGA 775 Intel X38 ATX Intel Motherboard - Retail
Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 Kentsfield 2.4GHz Read more... )

Yea, and my computer is on it's way to Atlanta according to UPS tracking. Of course it's being shipped from two different locations..

Unfortunately, my tax returns is being used to pay bills this year. No happy fun toys for me.

Yeah...kickass hardware but if you are running Vista 64, you are going to be just as screwed as last year. *Snicker*

You are jumping from dual to quad core? Meh...what is the price difference?

BTW, looks very similar to my Antec Nine Hundred case.

The 1333MHz FSB core2 duo 3.0GHz is around $20 more than my quad but it is 1333MHz while mine is only 1066

I didn't have too many problems with Vista aside from it being slower than dogpiles when it came to starting up.

I'm hoping the 4Gb of RAM vs the 1Gb in my old PC helps alleviate that.
