I think it depends on what you're studying. In most, if not all, of my education classes group work is big because you have to learn how to collaborate with other teachers and all that. I think that it can be really good but also, there are those that don't like to do their part. In that case, you all need to say to the teacher, (separately, of course) that you don't think said group member did as much work as the rest of you. Usually you can do that with group evaluations (if you have the opportunity to fill them out) If everyone says that one person didnt do enough, usually that person's grade is lowered. Maybe it's just that the school of education has a really good policy concerning group work since we do it so much. If your school doesn't, it might be beneficial to suggest it :-D

Thanks, sure I get it. :D That's another thing we don't have much of- group evaluations.

I remember one class from Caltech with official group work. There was a lot of collaboration on homework sets in various classes, most of which I missed out on.

In grad school here I've had at least a couple of group project classes. So like 1/3, even 1/2 of my CS courses, but not in my cog sci courses.
