We cancelled our sponsorship earlier this year. Oh wait, no we didn't: our child graduated from the program. And we decided not to do another because it was so much work for me collecting money from nine people.
But yeah, if we do one together, I might join in. The money thing will inevitably be an issue since we don't see each other monthly. Don't we need a credit card for sponsorship though?
i ve got a st george multiaccess card which can be used as a credit card, it's very handy.
we can pay monthly, quarterly, half-yearly or annually and they encourage you to pay annually as it helps to reduce administration costs.
It's 39 a month, so it's 13 per person between 3 people. so i will pay up front using my card and i ll keep a record of everyone's account so whenever i see you, you can pay me or if you have access to netbanking for your bank account, you can transfer money straight to mine.
Ideally we want to get 4 people sharing this sponsorship. But 3 is fine with me.
I'm definitely interested and have been for some time but every time I ask someone it never works out. How exactly would it work though? especially with the collecting money issue? Maybe if we do a couple of month's worth at a time? and then we dont have to worry about it until like a couple of months later? haha.
cost: 39 monthly or 234 half yearly or 468 yearly.
number of people sharing the sponsorship: yet to be determined. ideally 4 or 5.
payment method: i ll pay $234 up-front with credit card. i ll keep a record of each person's amount owed. you guys can choose to pay me back by either by giving me cash whenever i see you or transfer to my bank account online.
you can pay however amount you want throughout the year, but you need to pay all your outstanding amount by the end of the year (so it's better to pay consistently throughout the year!)
for all the information we will receive about the progress of the child, i will make a copy and send it out to each sponsor.
I'll do it. I was going to say I'd only do it if I managed to find a job, but that's not necessary at all since it only works out to less than $10 a month if 4 people do it. I really like your plan for money collection, too, dude. Go you.
I also remember Andrea being interested in doing this a few years ago, but having credit card problems. I'll ask her if she's interested. We might even be able to sponsor 2 kids if we get her and one more person.
oh that's great megs. yeah no prob, pay in however way you want.
i use netbanking a lot with my bank account, and it's free of transaction fee since mine is a student account. so if you are down at melb and you wanna pay, you can use netbanking (if you have one). ahh wonders of technology.

yeah i know, if i dont eat out once in a month (like a burger and a bottle of drink) it practically saves around 10 bucks already.
