i agree with some of those choices so much (especially Joey and Kane) that it's actually scary. You'd think i was on the Heavenly Noise committee! Obviously i don't need to be though, since others are making the right choices for me. i would've chosen Ben Ellingworth or Preston Peachey for the Outstanding Drummer award though.
Page seemed to me to be a combination of '70s rock (eg. Led Zeppelin) with '50s rock'n'roll and while i usually have quite a distaste for retro-rock bands, the combination of different time periods threw in enough semblance of originality to not particularly annoy me. In fact, since i had been listening to Little Richard earlier in the day, i quite enjoyed the energetic set from this young rockin' band.

http://thewhiteroom.com.au FIXATION
http://www.fixationsite.com SYDONIA are cool. The Annandale really suited their sound. Big drums. Very epic. i'm still annoyed and the fact that an abreviation of their name would be "Syd." when they frickin' come from Melbourne! If they didn't want to spell it "Cydonia" (which seems is where the name comes from), there's other ways they could've spelled it. Good band though.
THE SUITABLE FEW opened their set with their rockiest of their songs, "Hesitance", which was still probably too hip hop for some but utterly enjoyable for many others. The song was started with a different intro and had other slight alterations from previous times been played. This was followed by "Faces" and "The Game of Life", also from the 2004 debut EP. Next came the defining element of The Suitable Few's live shows to make each and every one one unique, the topic jam. The topics thrown at the band from the audience this time were "Hair Wax", "Getting Drunk" and "Keys". As usual, the complete improvised raps on these topics were witty and humourous. As was the reaction to someone (who'd apparently read the set list) calling out "The Fringe of Society". To humourously spite this expectation and to do something different they played "The Team", which is traditionally their set closer. After this unprecedented act, The Suitable Few did indeed play The Fringe of Society, everyone favourite amusing satire of Emo-punk. Next (and final) track was "That Track", which featured a breakdown used to introduce the band (usually done during "The Team") and a dance off between MC's Adikkal and Balistik. Although slighly out of place at the rock orientated awards night, The Suitable Few garnered a good audience reaction and people seemed to really enjoy the set.
