A Great Devil's Beard

Okay, so as some of you know, I saw The Devil Wears Prada last Friday. Good movie, very female-oriented, unless you as a guy have a thing for Anne Hathaway or Meryl Streep (who is without a doubt quite smoldering despite her age... it must be the extraordinary acting.) Anyway, I realized something about myself, watching that movie.

I definitely agree with you - the only consideration, however, is priority. To play the devil's advocate, I use your example of Alaska: if you wanted to go to Alaska your whole life, and it was something that really meant a lot to you, then your philosophy works out. If, however, you saw a Carnival Cruises commercial on t.v. and decided on a whim that you wanted to go, and your bestest best friend's birthday was the same week the cruise was available, would you still go, or would you be willing to put it off? There's a line between stopping at nothing to get what you want (admirable) and simply being selfish (not so admirable). Haha I'm in no way insinuating that you ARE selfish, but there are two sides to every coin, and the importance of each side (and each goal) must be weighed. It's possible for love interest/friendship to be a priority over promotion or success, and (i'm only guessing here, I haven't seen the movie yet) perhaps Anne Hathaway's character decided that her relationship with her boyfriend was more important to her at ( ... )
