Today I had the training session for the electronic filing system. Training is obligatory, which is, well, OK. What's not OK is the compete lack of organization: neither do they group people by skills, nor by their needs -- people in support centres use completely different features than, say, desk officers

My 2cents, don't offer the suggestions or plans. Caused me endless grief in the past. People who make choices don't want to know. You really should try to get a better job, this one sounds depressing.

I've been thiniking it through in the meantime, and think you might have a point.
But yes, I am going to try for a transfer, but I'll wait till the end of the year. Otherwise it might reflect badly on me instead of the culprit(s).

Ich glaube das ist ein Altersproblem, das mit der Intoleranz gegen Dummheit - geht mir genauso. Früher habe ich das irgendwie lustig gefunden, bisweilen erfüllt es mich jetzt noch mit schauriger Faszination, aber zumeist könnte ich diese Vollpfosten alle an die Wand knallen! Vor allem wenn diese Leute noch Führungsposten erhalten, wegen herausragender Leistungen und die dümmlichsten Banalitäten dann als außerordentlich dargestellt werden - unpackbar!

Ja, das stimmt wahrscheinlich. Also werde ich ganz einfach dick auftragen und übertreiben, was eh jeder tut, und meine Ideen für mich behalten. Was ja nicht jeißt, dass ich sie nicht nachher umsetzen werde, falls ich wider Erwarten den Job doch bekomme.

Alters- und Generationenproblem, ja. Kein Wunder, nach dem Ergebnis der Pisa-Studie... Echt deprimierend, das.

Sounds like a good idea, but before you do that, do a little research - see if they already tried some of those ideas. See why it wasn't accepted. Also learn some of the politics in that department.

They definitely haven't tried any of it, but I think I'm going to follow some friends' sage advice and keep my shiny ideas to myself.
Should I get the job, against all odds, I can still try to implement them.

Yep, already met him :-) He's still here, but will apply for another ambassadorial posting next year (Uzbekistan/Baku, I think it was).

Oh, don't say that. I know that he'll apply out of interest, but generally people will go anywhere if it means they're to be ambassadors.

*hugs* As hopeful as I am that your current job will pick up once training's gone and more work comes along, I'm even more hopeful that you'll get the job you really want. Fingers crossed for you, and hooray for getting your mind in a holiday place. Urgh, the things we put up with for our beloved critters. *moar hugs*

No training, at least not in the "learning soemthing useful to add to my qualifications so I can do a better job" sense. Just getting people up to date on the few alterations that have been made in a program I already knew like the back of my hand.

Yep, the Critters are baaaaaad (one of the main reasons why kittens are so cute, I think. Otherwise they'd get exterminated ten times a day)
