Successfully fighting boredom

I might be expelling the Devil with Beelzebub's help, as the German saying goes, but I've found the perfect means to stay entertained: I got myself a twitter account. Jessas!

I'm new on Twitter too and it's great fun. I'm MVallageas over there.

Contemporary French lit is deadly boring - they don't do meta, but the "Précieuses Ridicules" aspect is unbearable.

It's been a rather long time since last I was up to date re. contemporary French lit, but yes, I suppose they do the "intellectualism for intellectualism's sake" thing as well...

We saw Howard Jacobson the week before last when we were in Soho heading for 'The Book of Mormon' and he, I suspect, was heading for the Groucho Club. I enjoy his writing but disagree with a great many of his opinions (including, not surprisingly, his views on Harry Potter).

Have to look up what he says about HP...

His writing is absolutely ok, but IMO not Booker Prize level. The article I found does explain that particular event, however, at least to a certain extent.
