Since returning to Vienna I've been doing my own cleaning and, strangely and surprisingly, finding some sort of pleasure in doing so. Well, good for me, I say

After I bathe, I use a squeegee in the bathtub/shower to dry all surfaces, then I step outside the tub and spritz everything with a spray bottle of cleaning solution. Works for me and I don't have to even use a sponge. Also, I keep the bathroom door open at all times, to prevent mildew.
*takes notes for shower stall* Not that I will, of course, or that anyone will do their part...
Yes, that man is gorgeous, but I find watching "Mad Men" very difficult as it actually brings on psychosomatic asthma from watching all those people smoking...
I made a cabbage soup yesterday - very simple, plain, Irish-inspired. The soup base is home made chicken stock from a raw carcass. I softened a huge leek (chopped) and some celery in a mixture of butter and olive oil, then added some bacon and continued to cook gently until everything was pretty soft. Then the stock went in, then a savoy cabbage, sliced, and some salt and pepper. It got left to cook for quite a long time, because I forgot it, and then about half an hour before serving, I cut some floury potatoes into chunks and put them in. It turned out really well - the flavours of the stock and vegetables spoke for themselves, and the potatoes added some nice bulk. Very simple, but very good.
Using the vinegar method is certainly easier in a one-person household, I completely agree.
watching all those people smoking... And drinking. OMG drinking. It's a miracle that anybody from that generation actually lived beyond the age of 50.
Sounds fantastic! And very simple is often the best - I'm a huge fan myself of letting the natural flavours of ingredients speak for themselves, and try to eliminate artificial aromas, ingredients etc. as best I can.
Mad Men has been in Netflix queue for ages, and we'll probably take it on when we finally get around to finishing Breaking Bad, which will happen when they finally load the last 8 episodes on Netflix. *kicks*
I admire your cleaning suggestions and will give the vinegar a shot because the grout in our shower LOVEs mildew. When we remodel our bathroom, I'm getting a one-piece fiberglass shower even if it's less posh than tile because it's so much easier to keep clean.
