Nice. The tension between Hermione's problems with her father and her still new relationship with Ron comes through very well. Her mother's approval is a nice touch - things may be difficult but at least it's not unremitting distrust and hostility.
We don't get a sense of whether she's closer to her mother or her father in the books, do we? *sigh* Her parents are always mentioned so blandly, but I did think it was interesting they didn't want her shrinking her teeth with magic - there's where my hunch about her father not caring much for magic post Australia comes in.
I do think it would be fraught with tension. It would have to take them a while to really accept the Ron situation even though they probably like the Weasleys (since Hermione stays with them so much) as Ron would be a symbol of all things wizarding.
More fics from me coming soon. I've found a few things cleaning up my hard drive.
Are you still writing? Did the muse return from bowling?
Hermione's an only child - I think any young man might find her father challenging, and poor Ron comes with all the baggage of magic and the wizarding world that Granger, not unreasonably, fears and distrusts.
I like to think that Mrs Granger will be more sensitive to her daughter's feelings for Ron, and his for her, and will see him as potentially a good husband and father.
I'll look forward to seeing what you're finding on your hard drive.
No, I don't think the muse is back. I did sit down at the keyboard and make myself type, and what came out was a post Yule Ball conversation between Harry and Ron. I'm not very happy with it, though, and I haven't done anything with it. I can do simple plot and joined up writing - what the muse contributes is the lightness and humour that can lift the mundane and make it an enjoyable read, and that's what I'm not managing to do. If you want a look I'll send it over, as long as you promise not to be gentle with me.

On the other hand, the last part, it is full with "sweet temptation" - well done!
