Grint mentioned: Outlander film

Jun 07, 2009 10:52

Now this isn't the real thing, it's just someone speculating on possible actors to portray Jamie Fraser since Outlander has apparently been optioned for a film, but Rupert Grint was mentioned - especially with a bit of scruff. I enjoyed the mention, though after reading Outlander over the last few days, I'd hate to see Rupert put through that. Ugh ( Read more... )

Hahahaha, I loved reading what Gabaldon had to say on the matter (at the end where she says Gerard Butler would have difficulty playing a 22-year old virgin and that Keira Knightley would have to gain 40 pounds to play Claire).

Personally, I don't see Rupert playing Jamie (though I'd LOVE to see him in a kilt). And there's another issue, I won't get into at all since you haven't read further.

You and I obviously have much to discuss regarding the first book. And I can't see Keira Knightley as Clare at all. Nope.

As to Rupert Grint in a kilt - big yes there from me.

VERY big yes for me too!

I'm relatively new to the Rupert Love (I'm completely smitten), but have been a fan of Outlander for several years now... And I can't say I see him as Jamie. I've always imagined G. Butler playing Jamie, but I know it present several problems (which I will not discuss here because you asked us to).

Anyway... what I really meant to say was YES to Rupert in kilt, haha.

ps: can't help but be thrilled that I've found so many Outlander fans in the Rupert fandom!

Even though it is hard to see Rupert as Jamie (well mainly that he's not tall enough) it would be the greatest thing ever!

My favorite book series with my favorite character being played by my favorite actor wearing a KILT, I don't think my poor heart could take it! My heart would burst :)

As to the things Jamie had to go thru, I would love to see how Rupert would handle it. I think he'd be amazing, but it would break my heart all over again for Jamie.

I'm so happy you're reading Outlander! There has been an explosion of people starting to read the series lately and it makes me SO HAPPY :D I am on the last book (A Breath of Snow and Ashes) and I'm trying to stretch it out as close to September as I can so I wont have a long wait for the next! Yay for spreading the Jamie love :)

Truly, I doubt Rupert would take it if offered as he's said in the past he'd really rather do the smaller stuff that takes less time to shoot and less green screen crap, for which I can't blame him. So, I doubt he'd do it.

As to height, well he's not tall enough to be Ron Weasley, technically, who is obviously quite tall in the books. But that doesn't bother me.

If Outlander does come out as a film, I doubt I'd see it. It was bad enough reading the book. As much as I loved the story of Jamie and Claire, I've no desire to see certain things acted out for me on the big screen.

I think Rupert would do great impersonating Jamie... I can see him playing his emotions just perfectly. And he'd be wearing a Kilt, which is a huge plus, isn't it?

But I don't know... I yet have to come to terms with the idea of him playing Jamie-- mainly because I've always imagined G. Butler to be the older Jamie, and there's no way they can make it look like Rupert and Gerard are the same, haha!

Ugh, I cannot picture Ron Weasley as Jamie Fraser in the slightest. I have my own ideas and they don't necessarily involve Gerard Butler either *ducks under items thrown at me* My icon just might give you an idea of my personal Jamie Fraser...but that's just me.

Hope you'll read the books! I've had them recommended to me for several years, and finally just got around to it last month. I'm currently on the 3rd book--Voyager--and am absolutely loving every minute of it. Enjoy when you get to it!

Oops...just read that you have read Outlander. Oh well. :/ Sorry.

I've heard lots of mention of Rachel Weisz as Claire. Works for me.

Even if I've been hearing about the Outlander movie about to be made for at least 5 years now, I want to believe that this time there's a chance it'll actually come to be real. I really do. Outlander is one of my fave sagas of all time and seeing its adaptation to the big screen (no way they could do a page-to-page filming... sadly)would be my 3rd dream of the sort come true (after HP and LOTR).

So I hope it'll happen.

Even if they don't cast the actors I'd choose for the roles.

Which still doesn't include Rupert, no matter how smitten I am--which is a LOT.
