regarding impartiality in jury selection

I recently attended the trial of the United States vs David McCay, who is one of the two from Austin arrested in St. Paul during the RNC being charged with possession of molotov cocktails which is according to the state an unregisterable fire arm.  No one without the permission of the United States Government is allowed to possess a molotov ( Read more... )

is this happening in milwaukee? or in minnesota? either way, yeah, no structure can ever be "impartial", and the judicial structure doesn't even try especially hard to be so. i suppose it is the example of a kind of privilege: the privelege of those who have been trained to think in a certina kind of way over those who have been trained or simply decided to think in another.

it's a truly fucked up system. i think most people like myself, who do think it is important to speak the truth, and answer truthfully when asked questions under oath, but who have even slight differences of opinion/interpretation with the general view of the law and govt., would never end up on a jury for anything important like this.

in case you're wondering, there *are* people reading your blog entries. i'll be following any updates you make.

Sorry, this is a Federal case taking place in Minnesota. The United States Government (FBI) versus David McCay.

It it's a fucked up system, yes, but it makes sense why it would be so. I wouldn't demand anything else from it. It's fucked up because it is systematic, as an apparatus that works to systematize its subjects.

Subjectivity is partial. Impartiality is partiality for the state.

For people to have some meaningful impact tactically as jurors the strategy would be to act truthfully by lying.
