Alright, we now return to your regularly scheduled program.

TOP THREE ARGUMENTS SOUL LOST WITH MAKA, AND ONE THAT HE WON, FOR A TOTAL OF FOUR

4. ANYTHING TO DO WITH LAUNDRY

Soul Evans was born with a silver spoon in his mouth. For his whole life, he's had people to do things for him. Until he winds up sharing an apartment in Death City with Maka, anyway. She's certainly not going to do all his domestic shit for him.

I could believe that until the moment he crossed that threshold, the washing machine was a creature of myth for him, heard of in vague terms but rarely if ever actually seen. But that wasn't going to fly in Maka Albarn's house. He would clean his own clothes, on a regular basis, in a competent manner, or his partner was going to nag his ears off.

3. WHAT DOES AND DOES NOT QUALIFY AS A BREAKFAST FOOD

If you're busting out the garlic before noon (and do not work nights), you're doing it wrong. And a Maka who wakes up to a house reeking of the stuff is not a very happy Maka at all. Enough said.

2. ACTUALLY, PRETTY MUCH EVERYTHING

The dude is frankly a bit of a pushover unless you get him in a grumpy mood. Oh, he'll grumble, and argue, and huff and sulk, but if you keep applying the pressure...well, it's easier to just go with the flow than to fight against it.

And besides, most of the time, especially on any sort of household cleaning issue, Maka (being the responsible one) is right anyway. And he knows it, even if he'd never admit it in so many words.

1. EVERY NOW AND THEN, THOUGH, HE MANAGES TO CONVINCE HER TO HAVE SOME FUN INSTEAD OF CHAINING HERSELF TO HER DESK

Not often, of course. Not even close to half of the times he tries, because being the irresponsible one of the two, he tries a lot. But just as she balances out his slackerdom and is a positive influence on him, so too does he inject a little chaos into her orderly life and keep her from completely burning herself out working. And every now and then, he manages to convince them that their time would be better spent, for example, watching a lame action movie instead of working on an essay that's due in a week anyway.

The next day, of course, she mentally curses him out for getting her behind on her task schedule. And every time she swears that it will never again happen. And she holds to that until the next time it does.
