Ya know, it just doesn't seem like Thanksgiving without an all-day X-Files or MST3K marathon on TV for my parents to forcibly drag me away from long enough to eat dinner, despite my desperate and marginally violent kicking, screaming, spitting, and flailing. Those were the days. The entire extended family would be in town, and I'd just be sitting ( Read more... )

I have this picture of you saying grace... and it just doesn't work without also picturing your family on large amounts of crack.

Hmm...Let's see if I can challenge your list. (Probably not.)

Final Fantasy XI - Recollection (Dynamis Mix)
Oasis - Wonderwall
Eurythmics - Sweet Dreams
Black-Eyed Peas - Don't Lie
The Scatman Song
TRAPT - Headstrong
White Christmas (the really old old version by the man whose name I can't recall)

Egads I loved those X-File-A-Thons on Thanksgiving! At the table I'd always say "This Thanksgiving I am thankful for Agent Mulders undying paranoia and backwards investagory methods and Agent Scully's constant cynicism and cool haircut" (what? it was the 90's?) and then get yelled at a lot about "not repsecting the spirit of Thanksgiving". PSH.
The way I see it, if they play the unairable episode with the inbreeding, homicidal farmer family, then it really is a Thanksgiving miracle - one that should not be missed under any circumstances. Besides, things taste better when you've just emerged from a darkened t.v room, eyes bloodshot, half-starved and three-fourths mad, babbling about aliens. Gives it that extra kick, that "oh will I live through to make it to the next bite?" kind of kick.

PS - We Built This City? Best song ever? SO CLOSE IT'S SCARY. XP

We just want to dance here, someone stole the stage. They call us irresponsible, write us off the page. Oh so familiar. Gotta love it!

And Dude. HOME. That episode was fucking creepy as hell! Remember when it got banned from the Fox network cuz people complained? Fuckin' beautiful. You KNOW it's gotta be bad when an episode of the goddamn X-Files gets banned for being too creepy. Of course, it rather begs the question why the fuck the Fox network didn't just tell people that if they don't want to be creeped out, they shouldn't be watching the goddamn X-Files in the first place, but that would require logic and common sense from the illustrious television channel that brought us World's Deadliest Magicians or whatever the fuck it was. Guess you can only expect so much from the network television short bus. Though I do completely concur with your sentiments that nothing puts a person in the Thanksgiving spirit like having the following underniable truths drilled into your head: trust no one, believe the lie, and the only ( ... )

Okay, okay! I admit it. Your kung-fu is better.

"None of you fuckers except Da3vid can beat this shit." Better? Don't let anybody ever say I can't accept defeat. *bows to the master of hokey but awesome music.*
