QUEENS OF THE ROAD - part 1

Apr 04, 2014 22:21

So here's the first official part of my report. This part of the report will be mostly text at the beginning with a picspam following in the end. It seems I concentrated more on talking with the guests than taking photos but there are already so many great photos around that I guess it doesn't matter. The pics are clickable for larger.

Pia, I loved your report. Although the logistics and profitability of running a Con of that magnitude is daunting on so many levels, you raised some valid "cons" (*g* no pun intended). LOL, a "close up" of fifty people is not a close-up, and an orange back drop for the guests is not the most flattering! Thanks so much for sharing (and for the pics).

Thank you!

I do realize that running a convention can be tricky business and you can't always please everyone but with the Friday activities it just bugged me that something else was promised than what was delivered. The convention was mostly pretty well run and as a whole it was a good experience but there were just some things that bugged me. However, the upmost feeling is happiness and that's the main thing :)

More coming as soon as I get it all written down :)

It sounds like quite a mixed bag of experiences but you certainly made the most of it. I'm glad you were able to spend some time with all the guests.

It really was a bit of a mixed experience. Some of it was pretty good but then there were some low points. However, mostly it was all good so I was left mostly happy.

The guests were all really nice. Interacted with Gale the least but that's just the way he is. He isn't as open towards people than the other guys and I allow him that. I did get to interact with them all quite a lot. More coming soon!

ITA that some of it was badly run. The dinner started out badly for me as I was surrounded by people speaking their own language and next to someone who spoke no English. Fortunately Scott stood next to me and we chatted and then Peter moved opposite so I got to talk to him as well. Then there was a spare seat next to Scott so I moved up. The venue was far too small, the food was average and the tables should have been round with Scott and Peter at separate tables. But it turned out pretty well in the end for me. I just felt sorry for those at Gale and Randy's tables.

Thanks for the report and pics. I agree that the boat was not a good event for a close up especially for Gale who is skittish around fans at the best of times. Apart from that it was a very enjoyable weekend. I had a blast meeting old and new friends. I took very few pics so it's a joy to see what everyone else took.

Sorry to hear your dinner wasn't quite as an enjoyable experience as it could have been. At least it all ended well for you. My friend ended up having good time at Randy's table too, after he moved around about half-way through the dinner but what I've heard most people at Gale's table weren't that happy.

I'm glad you enjoyed the report and pics. The boat really wasn't the best idea, especially with that many people.

I'm glad to hear you had a good weekend. Mine was pretty good too, it just didn't start the best way :)
