Stormy Weatha'

These spring storms have been scaring me... Really, are you supposed to have a Tornado Watch every time it rains??  This don't seem right... Needless to say, the rain and wind kept us up most of the night, so I am quite tired, but this afternoon...

We've been having crazy weather too - hail and gale-force winds this evening. Apt for late autumn, but not leading up to an allegedly hot and dry summer this season, I'd say.

I've still not seen any buttercups - it's weird - but the lawn is full of dandelions and daisies. I find it very cheery, but I don't want to piss the neighbours off so we kinda have to cut - keeping up appearances and all that: they'll complain of ticks or whatever, otherwise. I've decided that when I cut or weed, I'll pick as many of the flowers as I can, first, as an offering.

But yes with the baking ;) I'm going to attempt some low fat banana bread sometime soon, rather than the usual shortbread or cakes. Rosie's love affair with banana's have come to an end, it seems. Now she just wants to hug them rather than eat them and Mr Seren informed me that we still have 32 bananas left, and it's nearly the weekend...What do you bake? I'm looking for ideas!

(laughing...) BANANA BREAD! I bake a LOT of banana bread. It's the only way I can get the kid to eat bananas, it seems ;) Right now, though, I'm baking an almond cake (with chocolate buttercream frosting) for my husband's birthday.

(sorry for the long delay in my reply...we were out of town for Mother's Day weekend, which was very sweet :) a happy one to you, as well!)

Ha! We did banana bread this afternoon :D I found a recipe for almost-no-fat-banana-bread so I decided to give it a try - it had no butter in it so it made me feel very virtuous ;) And it turned out not too bad for a first go. I'm thinking of trying to adapt it to a carrot cake or something.

I hope you had a lovely Mother's Day weekend. Over here we have it towards the end of March - this year we were travelling back from my friends' wedding so I didn't really get one, but 'Tom and Rosie' got me a lovely box of handmade chocolates and a tub of roses later that week (an improvement on last year - I asked for a bird table and Mr Seren looked shocked when I wondered where it was and he said, "I thought *you* were going to get it!" He's learning, bless 'im).

(laughing...!) I don't recall that anything magical happened for me last year, either, but this year I did get some lovely artwork by my husband, embellished by easter stickers (bunnies, eggs, that sort of thing) by Osh, and chocolate. :) Good thing they learn!

Awww, so pretty! I love your pictures!

Yikes, you're getting tornado warnings with rain? Weather here gets freaky in the summer too, but not so much yet, thankfully. Hey, you should move up this way! :)

Hey, actually...I am trying to convince the Mr. to do just that... he was born in a cabin in Vermont, and has pined for it ever since. I'm game for it, I say!! It rains without tornadoes there, right :) ?

Yes, usually it rains without tornadoes, though in the summer we have those terrifying micro burst things that I don't really understand, but they're pretty violent and sometimes tornado-like. Not a common occurrence, but they happen. The hills and mountains absorb a lot of that for us.

Vermont, yay! A major VT attraction/vortex for hippie-types is a mere 20 minute drive away from us. I love Vermont, especially the more remote areas. That would be a fabulous choice!
