Sister Act I (1992)
About: When a worldly singer witnesses a mob crime, the police hide her as a nun in a traditional convent where she has trouble fitting in.
My Thoughts: Turns out I've seen SA2 many times but never seen the prequel. Not as good as the sequel (a first) but it's still good. Love the music and the story. Also funny <3

Sister Act II (1993)
About: The sisters come back to Delores's show to get her back as Sister Mary Clarence to teach music to a group of students in their parochial school which is doomed for closure.
My Thoughts: Love this film and the music but I seem to be the only one. Of course the music ends up being stuck in my head for days later but oh well. If you liked the first film, this is a must.

What a Girl Wants (2003)
About: An American teenager learns that her father is a wealthy British politician running for office. Although she is eager to find him, she realizes it could cause a scandal and cost him the election.
My Thoughts: I quite like this film although a few too many English stereotypes for my liking. Still a good film if you're looking for something to pass the time.

Dead Poets Society (1989)
About: English professor John Keating inspires his students to a love of poetry and to seize the day.
My Thoughts: I'm not a fan of poetry but quite enjoyed the poetry side of it. It seemed quite a lot like The History Boys although I like this film more. Loved all the characters and it reminded me a lot of my time at a posh all girls school. Was not expecting the amount of angst that there was, should have had some tissues handy. The ending prob made me cry the hardest and I'm not even sure if they were sad or happy tears. Too many feelings. Only issue I have is the unasnwered questions but I'm guessing they didn't get expelled considering how many there were. Overall recommend it, just have so tissues and ice cream at the ready.

Raising Helen (2004)
About: After her sister and brother-in-law die in a car accident, a young woman becomes the guardian of their three children.
My Thoughts: I actually liked it more than I thought I would. Wasn't too predictable and was pretty funny. I doubt things would go that smoothly in real life but it was a fun watch.

Lost in Translation (2003)
About: A fading movie star with a sense of emptiness, and a neglected young wife meet as strangers in Tokyo and form an unlikely bond.
My Thoughts: Everyone seems to love it, watched cause my friend was flailing over it enough to watch twice in one day. It wasn't my kind of film. It had it's funny moments but for the most part it wasn't very entertaining. Def not something I could watch twice.

Battle Royale (2000)
About: In the future, the Japanese government captures a class of ninth-grade students and forces them to kill each other under the revolutionary "Battle Royale" act.
My Thoughts: I prefer this film to The Hunger Games although the reasoning behind this battle makes less sense than in The Hunger Games. If they chose a class that was the least well behaved that would at least encourage kids to behave. I dunno. Love the instructor on the vids, so adorable for someone instructing kids on how to play this game. Also love how the teacher treats it like a normal class.
