[Nonexplicit discussion of rape]
This whole Moffat leaving Twitter issue has brought up a lot of things. One argument going on is about the rape comments in the latest ep (or at least the suggestion that Solomon had such intentions). People are saying that it was perfectly okay and we should just move on. I was just wondering about everyone else's opinion.

That wasn't the worst thing that Solomon did. He'd already committed mass murder (if not genocide) on the Silurians in the spaceship (which we didn't see). He'd also just killed a harmless triceratops (which we did see and which I suspect probably distressed some younger viewers most of all). So treating Nefertiti as property (leaving it vague whether he was intending to rape her or enslave her) was just a continuation of that malice, a final proof that he could not be redeemed.

The other thing was that someone needed to be kidnapped by Solomon as a plot device. If he'd just left the ark in his own spaceship, the Doctor wouldn't have been morally justified in diverting the missiles onto him. Given Solomon's obsession with money, Nefertiti was his only plausible target; none of the others would have the same price tag. She chose to go with him, despite the dangers, refusing to accept protection from either the Doctor or Riddell. As soon as she got the chance, she managed to overpower him, because, as the Doctor says, you shouldn't ( ... )

This is true. I suppose it was a step too far. He was a bit too clear in his intentions for her. Hints would have been fine. Glad to know I'm not just overreacting.
Not sure it was a great idea considering the range of age groups that watch it. Although kids may not have gotten the entire picture. Still just no.

I thought it was creepy and went a bit too far for a show aimed at kids. But at least Solomon got killed for it so at least there's no condoning. I know that sounds bloodthirsty, but if the writers are going to insinuate the possibility that someone's going to rape someone else, I at least want there to be consequences.
