The King's Speech (2010)

About: The story of King George VI of Britain, his impromptu ascension to the throne and the speech therapist who helped the unsure monarch become worthy of it.

My Thoughts: This film always makes me teary. I had a speech impediment as a child although it was a problem with sounds rather than stuttering and damn I hated speech therapy. That feeling of uselessness that you can't do what comes naturally to everyone else is highly frustrating. Especially when it takes awhile for you to improve despite all your hard work. The feeling of achievement when you finally get it right though is overwhelming. Usually because you don't really expect to improve. Also their friendship and the relationship between Albert, his wife and his kids was too much. SO MANY FEELS OVER THIS FILM. I see 0 fault in it. One of my all time faves.

Pocahontas (1995)

About: The daughter of a Native American tribe chief and English soldier share a romance when English colonists invade 17th century Virginia.

My Thoughts: I loved this film as a kid but I don't think I ever watched it again after I saw the sequel. Also learning the true history/ story made it a bit awkward. Lovely movie though. Great music, okay art. John Smith's eyes were highlighter blue at times which was creepy. Think I would have preferred this film a hell of a lot more if they were just friends. Awesome, epic friends.

Lara Croft: Tomb Raider (2001)

About: Video game adventurer Lara Croft comes to life in a movie where she races against time and villains to recover powerful ancient artifacts.

My Thoughts: I quite like the change, having a female action hero kinda thing even if she plays eye candy but then again I guess the men do too. I want her butler and tech dude though. Also sup Daniel Craig, I now ship Bond/Croft.

Ice Age (2002)

About: Set during the Ice Age, a sabertooth tiger, a sloth, and a wooly mammoth find a lost human infant, and they try to return him to his tribe.

My Thoughts: Dis film. Love how they end up as some messed up family/pack. So funny. Always. Of course lots of angst to. Far more than expected. Damn them.

Weekend (2011)

About: After a drunken house party with his straight mates, Russell heads out to a gay club. Just before closing time he picks up Glen but what's expected to be just a one-night stand becomes something else, something special.

My Thoughts: Was recommended this film after I had a bit of a bitch fets about how angsty gay films are. Well this film was lovely. Like the couple in it are ridiculously adorable and just jdshfdkjghkd. SO many feels. It was a bit weird but it didn't really take away from the relationship growing between the guys. Also touched a bit on what gays have to face in public without it being what the film was about. Ending wasn't exactly happy but wasn't tragic either. Made me tear up though ;-;

P.S. Not sure it says anywhere but the film does contain sex scenes and nudity. Not exactly explicit, kinda borderline R16-R18

Shelter (2007)

About: When his college dreams are sidelined by family obligations, a young man finds comfort in surfing with his best friend's brother.

My Thoughts: Can't remember how i happened across this film, Amazon rec'd it or something? But omg it was as good as it looked. My issue with gay films is that I find it difficult to find ones that don't have sad endings or aren't BS. This one is pretty much exactly what I've been looking for. It was sweet, it had angst and most importantly a happy ending. Some critics complained that it was too fanciful and a bit unbelievable but hey how many hetero pairing films are 'believable'? If I wanted reality then well I'd be outside living my life. I want happy, I want for once everything to turn out all right, a happy ever after etc. This film is utterly adorable and I recommend it 100% (unless you're looking for realistic).

The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (2008)

About: Famed archaeologist/adventurer Dr. Henry "Indiana" Jones is called back into action when he becomes entangled in a Soviet plot to uncover the secret behind mysterious artifacts known as the Crystal Skulls.

My Thoughts: Lots of Jones fans don't seem to like this one but I actually enjoyed it. I wouldn't include it in the trilogy but as a standalone it's pretty awesome. Not sure about the kid. I feel they could have done better for a guy who seems is gonna take over Dr Jones's  job. But I guess we'll find out if they ever make the fifth. Other than him I loved all the other characters and the plot. I have one question though, if they had wanted to close that temple/whatever again how would they? They'd have to move those big stones and refill with sand and urgh so much effort. Also those ants, jksfhdjkh nothing nice about them, they even squish icky. Finally, they kid falls out in the jungle, in S. America and his parents just leave him? I mean yeah saving the world and stuff but it's not like you could drive by and pick him up later. Finding someone in the jungle in S. America is like impossible.

P.S. The fifth one is gonna suck, if it ever gets made, won't it?
