Title: Underneath the Christmas tree
Pairing: KAT-TUN gen, though some things may have sneaked into it, depending on how you see it.
Rating: PG
Summary: It is lame to spend the Christmas Eve with your bandmates. But there is no helping it.
Note:Merry Christmas! And beware of complete mushiness.
“It’s so lame that we’re spending Christmas Eve together,” Koki whines, huffing and then coming to a halt in front of a huge Christmas tree in Ueda’s living room. “When the hell did you even have time to put this up?” he shouts into Ueda’s direction, stunned by the size of that green thing, and collapses onto the floor under the tree.
“I didn’t,” Ueda says nonchalantly and throws a pillow at him. Koki grins and cushions his head. “Besides it’s not even Christmas Eve anymore.”
“Whatever?” Junno grins, grabs another pillow and dives head first, sliding across the wooden polished floor towards the tree. “Iriguchi, deguchi, Ta-”
“Shut up, Taguchi,” the room interrupts him in perfect sync, and Koki kicks him into the shin for good measure too, even if it is halfhearted.
“It’s kind of pretty,” Kame says in awe, touching the closest branch.
“And it isn’t plastic, Kame-chan,” Junno says from where he is trying to snuggle to Koki, who is pushing him away, because Junno damn it, I am not your girlfriend.
Kame decides to ignore them and curls up on a love seat close by. It is kind of huge with only him on it, but he is falling off his feet, MS Super live being only one of his Christmas Eve obligations. Though seeing the blinking lights on the tree, he is kind of okay with ending up over at Ueda’s place (again). The real tree smells kind of nice. Nakamaru pokes Kame’s hip and shoves one of the glasses into his hand.
“Eggnog, Tat-chan, really?” Nakamaru says after taking a sip from his cup that says I love Gackt.
“I know people who are willing to ship American traditions to Japan,” Ueda answers, getting some futons out and lying down underneath the tree himself. Nakamaru joins him, deciding he can definitely sleep on the floor when there is futon and tree smelling good and warm Ueda next to him.
“So, Christmas tree?” he asks, when Koki and Junno stop paying attention, instead starting to unwrap fake tiny presents that are tied to the lower branches of the tree. (“I would’ve thought they are empty, but this one has used wrapping inside.” “This one is made of foam.” “Stop destroying my tree, idiots.” “But it’s kind of fun.” “Have more eggnog.”)
“Yeah,” Ueda eventually answers Nakamaru’s question, rubbing a few needles between his fingers. “It does smell nice though. It was worth the trouble and letting my mother into the apartment again.”
Nakamaru laughs and looks to the side. The skin around Ueda’s eyes is crinkled in laughter, a small smudge of residue eye shadow so inviting near his left eye, and Nakamaru’s thumbs itch. Then the doorbell rings and they both get up-Nakamaru curious about who on earth may be coming to Ueda´s house at this hour during Christmas and Ueda moving nonchalantly, as if expecting it.
“You two are standing under the mistletoe. Kiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiissss!” is the first thing Jin says, thrusting another bottle of eggnog into Ueda’s hands. Ueda flips him off and goes to put the bottle away.
“It’s okay; I can kiss you and your big nose,” Jin says, the red hat on his head sliding more to the side as he trips over his shoes and tries to reach for Nakamaru.
“Santa Claus is in town,” Nakamaru says into the room, and Junno and Koki raise their heads, both throwing some destroyed decoration at Jin when he is close enough as a form of greeting.
“He does have a belly to prove himself,” Kame murmurs, half-asleep from the loveseat.
“I missed you too, Kamenashi.” Jin swats at Kame’s feet and sits down next to him. “Ueda, the tree is fucking huge,” he observes, “I thought you were kidding.”
Ueda comes back with one more cup (there is a picture of a reindeer on this one, and Ueda swear he has no clue how it got to his house) and tells Jin to shut up and drink his liquor.
“That’s the spirit.” Jin grins and decides not to point out how girly eggnog is.
“What time is it?” Koki asks, stealing the futon while Ueda is distracted.
“Three in the morning,” comes sleepy response from Junno, and Koki forgets to complain when the man snuggles murmuring Merry Christmas under his breath.
“We have to be up in four hours,” Koki says and closes his eyes to the lights above him.
“I don’t,” Jin announces happily, and Kame kicks him off the seat. Ueda sighs and goes to fetch more blankets, wondering when he became the mother hen.
“Nakamaru is rubbing onto you,” Jin says as if reading his thoughts when he gets back.
Nakamaru fake pouts at them from where he is standing by the tree, clueless.
“Come help me get my cushions and blankets from the bedroom. I know you all want to sleep here like teenagers having the first ever sleepover,” Ueda tells him.
“I promise not to tell them you do to,” Nakamaru whispers when they are collecting any spare piece of bedding they can find in Ueda’s bedroom,”
Ueda looks up, biting his lip. Finally he lets his hair down from a ponytail, grabs a more comfortable t-shirt and slowly shuffles after Nakamaru.
“So how is the tree, really?” he asks, surveying the living room. All lights but the tree are out, Koki is snoring, Jin is spooning around Kame on the loveseat, his red Santa hat falling off his head, and the Christmas tree lights are dancing across them all.
“No privacy and I have to sleep on the floor,” Ueda grumbles when Nakamaru doesn’t answer his question.
Nakamaru only chuckles and starts creating a big nest by the tree.
“Did I overdo it on the mistletoe?” Ueda asks again, “It was in every book, mentioned every time I did the research. Yuichi?”
Nakamaru grabs him by the hand and pulls him onto the floor. “And people think you are the quiet one.”
“I hate you,” Ueda mumbles, wrapping himself in the blankets.
“No you don’t. Though, maybe I should be a little worried because you don’t want to kiss me under the mistletoe,” Nakamaru says and kind of hopes his real disappointment doesn’t show.
Ueda rolls his eyes, grabs Nakamaru and gives him a big smooch. “There. See, I don’t even need an excuse,” he says. “Now would you go to sleep already?”
“What, are you afraid I could catch Santa sliding down the chimney?”
Ueda elbows Nakamaru into the stomach and turns away from him.
“I’m glad you liked the tree,” Ueda mumbles much later, probably thinking Nakamaru is already asleep. He is not, though he pretends to as he stirs and drapes a hand around Ueda’s waist, pulling him closer. When the other stiffens but does not move away and eventually starts breathing evenly, Nakamaru finally falls asleep too. With a stupid cheesy grin on his face.
In the morning Jin is still there, but he is sleeping curled under the loveseat, oblivious to them all no matter how loud they are. Kame freaks out about not having clean set of clothes and having very bad hair, Koki is annoyed because he has neck pains and a cramp in the arm on which Junno slept and Junno is smiling without mercy or agenda. Nakamaru is awkward because Ueda woke him up in an attempt to remove Nakamaru’s hand from around his waist while he just would not let go. Ueda puts heavy makeup on to cover up the eye bags he has from only about two hours of sleep and swears that this was the last time he let them crash at his place after the Christmas Eve rollercoaster of performances. No one really believes him. He has always been a liar after all.

A/N: IDEK this might be really bad, but I felt like writing it, and well I almost made it on time. There still is Christmas Day in some parts of the world. I hope you had/are having a good day.
