I think we were hearing some similar nonsense in RI not too long ago. Apparently all these out of state students are a drain on the economy. The governor, if I'm not mistaken, wanted to establish some 'student fee' to be tacked on with everything else that would go straight into the state's coffers. Thankfully, that failed miserably. I think o_O
Yeah, out-of-state students always get screwed somehow, but in this case it's the students from Michigan that are being villanised by our governor because most of us Michiganders are now leaving the state after we get our degrees because Michigan has no jobs and Detroit is basically a war-zone waiting to die down.
Actually I have 3 years to finish my business degree then I'd like to go to University of Michigan to get my masters in world languages. As long as I keep my grades as high as they are now I won't have a problem living off financial aid and public assistance. Once I got into the system it became really easy forme to have it figured out ;)
