I've found the intent/motivation/actions categories really useful - people's opinions about Draco tend to be chaotic, and it was good to see you examine these opinions in an orderly fashion and from more than one point of view.

Great, thoughtful essay. Draco always fascinated me because I saw him as the counterpart of Harry: they both had heavy burdens of placed on them by others at a young age--Harry to save the world, Draco to defend Voldemort's side and become a Death Eater. And while we saw plenty of Harry's angst in trying to make his own choice despite this and ultimately accept his "fate", we've been missing out on Draco until HBP.
I really loved your analysis of what HBP illustrates about Draco's side of things. I absolutely agree with you, and I must ask, where does this leave Draco?
P.S. I thought HBP heavily suggested that Draco already carries the Dark Mark, albeit through the eyes of the trio, who often jump to conclusions. That complicates things, doesn't it?
