[Pause.]
They're crying over the statues.

[Because magically appearing statues are strange even for him.]

[He checked.]

I wouldn't trust t'ings just by what dey seem to be.

True, but the locals don't seem to consider them a threat, even if they did appear...suddenly. There is still reason to be cautious, but unless garlanding threats with flowers is a local custom, I do not think that we need to fear the statues themselves.
[What they may represent or herald is another matter entirely.]

Maybe dey ain't but I ain't be likin' none of dis. It be statues dis time but what if da next t'ing to suddenly appear be a lot more hostile?

[Although he still doesn't trust those statues.]

Yeah, I think that's what everyone's wondering at this point. [Or at least she hopes so, and she hopes that they'll actually get some answers, too. Because this is really starting to creep her out.]

[Maybe Kevas is just really over thinking this.]

She pads around the area, watching a woman and small child as they move away from one crumpled figure. She shakes her head sadly, sighing, when she catches sight of Kevas moving a short distance away. She rises and pads in his direction, eyes moving over the figures that line the sides of the streets.]
Why do you think the locals fear them not, Kevas? Is this an occurrence that is normal to them, do you think?
[She glances over her shoulder once more at the departing pair, ear tufts flicking in her direction as she speaks.] They mourned its destruction as if they knew him .. could these, perhaps, be figures they have lost? [Her gaze moves back to Kevas.]

That is if they even made a mistake. Kevas still feels that there's something up with these statues. Call him paranoid, but then again that's exactly what he is.]
Wish I could tell jah dat, but all dis be new to me. Could it be a festival.
[Kevas follows Zhaneel's gaze. Hopefully that isn't the case. The troll may not care much for any spiritual customs but he will always respect the dead.]
Whatevah be goin' I be havin' no trust fuh dese t'ings.

Perhaps questioning the locals might prove fortuitous? If they are the ones recognizing and decorating the figures, perhaps they are those we should speak with..
[Kevas' speaks his feelings of the stone figures and Zhaneel fluffs her feathers and fur, shoulder bumping him lightly.]
Then we should seek answers to set your concerns to rest, aye?
[Not that they weren't going to find out soon enough that the stupid ass roosters are turning folks to stone. Dumb ass birds. ]:| ]

[Something that's really starting to get on his nerves. It's like they're actively trying to make their jobs harder than they need to be.
He feels her nudge him with her shoulder and turns to her frowning slightly. As much as he hates to admit it, Kevas doesn't know what to do. This land, these people, and their customs are all new to him and he has no clues to work from.]
Aye, but I an't be havin' a clue where to start.
