I apologize in advance if I appear like an
art narcissist of sorts, but here is my ISU sculpture once again.
I've been taking the last few weeks to prepare for my OCAD interview in the field of industrial design, and thus I've had to document all my artwork in the most professional way possible. Today, I had arranged with my dad to get two sets of tabloid size (11" by 17")images of my artwork so they could be put into itoyas (art portfolio folders, essentially). That's 46 pages in total. My dad said he knew a guy who knows the owner of a print shop, and could get us the prints at a discount. So off we went to the print shop, but after having to fix issues in file resolutions and font issues the shop didn't have enough time to print out my images (the shop closes at 12:30pm on Friday, for some reason). So my dad gave the guys there $40 for the troubles, and we went to a second printing place which was referred to us by the first. There, we finally got all of the images printed within an hour; professionally printed, on standard glossy finish tabloid paper. The price tag? $124. So in total, my dad spent $164 in getting my portfolio together, coming in at an average cost of about $4 per picture. Tomorrow, I have to buy two itoyas to hold the tabloid sized pages... Curry's is selling them at a price of $16 each, not including tax. At least now I know where the term "starving artist" comes from... they're all too poor from their art related purchases!
