Internet Crazy of the Month (Year?) Award

I hereby nominate _alecto_ as the Crazy of the Month, and possibly of the year. This woman is a die-hard radical feminist who reviewed Firefly as a whole and Our Mrs. Reynolds in particular, and claims it is possibly the most mysoginist show she's ever seen.

I wasn't actually sure if this was real or a freakin' parody of vitriolic, uninformed rhetoric that many "ists" spew, because it's so damned ridiculous. but yeah, I believe that there are people out there who are just this... wrong.

P.S. She's obviously never watched "I Love Lucy" or "The Honeymooners" if she really thinks "Firefly" is the most misogynist show she's ever seen.

Look at some of the comments. They are, sadly, very very serious about their beliefs. Including the one that ALL sex involving penetration, even between two women, is rape, because we live in a male dominated society.

It's probably better if I DON'T read the comments. :) I'd just end up involved, and that path leads to madness and a whole lot of wasted time!

God, nooooo, don't give her more attention!

I tried reading her first post about Firefly and only got about a page in before I gave up. She's just soooo radical it's unreal. I find it hilarious that with all of the injustices women face in the world today, she's bothering to spend energy on a TV show. I think she just likes the attention and ruffling the feathers of a very devoted fanbase. She needs to get a life.

Actually, while she's a complete nutjob, that's not the scary thing about it. What's scary is how many people post comments completely agreeing with everything she says.

She's evidently deleted a TON of comments disagreeing with her. This was discussed in a Firefly LJ community and people there posted about comments they left her, which were later removed. I think one girl even told her she found it offensive that the nutjob called just about every form of sex "rape," considering she herself had been raped. Nutjob deleted that.

She basically censors anyone who disagrees with her, which makes her look even more unreasonable and pathetic in my eyes. She certainly has the right to view Firefly the way she does, and even post about it, but when she posts about it in a public way, she opens herself up to arguments against her, and if she can't handle them like an intelligent adult, she should...(trying to be polite here)...um, consider directing her energies elsewhere. Heh.

Yeah, but I think she's the sort of person who needs justification of her beliefs by the internet masses, and thus she needs to see her posts having lots of agreeing comments and little dissenting.
It makes no logical sense, but then, does ANYTHING she says or does make sense?
