rating community rant for all to read ; ): p

Dec 18, 2003 03:28

going onto lighter things, I've been questioning my membership @ in_the_mix, really. people there can be so rude. I mean for no absolute reason. I personally can/will not stand to let a complete moron vomit useless words unto an 'applicant'. What's the point? There's a difference in saying no. or no, your hair looks a bit weird in pic 10 but when someone ( Read more... )

Why did you need to join that community? You know that you're a pretty girl.

I think those types of communities are pretty silly.

One time I checked out this one community for "Ethnic" people, but it seems like the more "Ethnic" you are the more likely you are not to get in.

I didn't join it to get 'approved' of my looks per say, I just wanted to have the ability to comment(you have to be a memeber to comment) and call people out if need be. There's nothing like going to a community and seeing people get bashed for no reason. I like to smack some common sense into people.

alas I can't change the world of the rating community. It is supported by the veins of vanity.
how that makes sense, I don't know lol
you're right. it's silly. I have no interest in it anymore. after a few yes's and no's it gets boring.
I can only blame myself for exposing myself to assholes.

haha it's so funny though, there's DRAMA in the net man! hahaha

PEACE. :p

i try to moderate it. i really do. you've seen me do it. but i guess at the end of the day, there is more of a competitive nature to it than there is anything else, because otherwise people wouldn't have to vote. My goal is for it to accept all different kinds of people, and I think we've begun to do that...but it's still a rating community, and its petty and immature just like any other one. I guess maybe beacuse I'm used to looking at so many other communities where people get massacred , maybe I've become a little immune to it all.
oh well.
i care about it so little, that I don't mind at all if you rant about the community. i just hope you're not using it to gauge my own personal character because I'm one of the moderators....because I like you and I don't want you thinking all these bad thoughts about me.

yup, that's all

what competition? to get people to believe they are prettier than others? or with other communities? I'm not quite sure what you mean here.

competition isn't bad. It's just that it seems like people take out their anger on unstamped members. I don't see the need for people to say others are ugly, have fat faces or whatnot. really. Saying no is not the problem but when you treat them like 'the others" what's that about?
Another sad thing is that other people encourage it. They get a pat on the back for being rude and they don't see anything wrong in what they are doing/saying.
I'm not here to preach but I can control what I expose myself to. and these are people that would never get the time of my day.
it's nothing big, rating communities just aren't my thing. I don't really care for them *shrugs*

because I like you and I don't want you thinking all these bad thoughts about me.
worry not, I wouldn't use another person's rude remarks to judge you. Frankly ( ... )

I'd be lying if I said it didn't change my perspective on you though. I don't think you're bad or anything.
I just was a bit surprised to see that that member stayed (unwarned...heck even encouraged), despite her rudeness to 'applicants'. Also the whole 'we don't take bullshit here' didn't stand for shit. it's being worse than melanin_love.

I'm not trying to fingerpoint or blame you.
I'm just being honest.

Having said that, I'd much rather knoW you as 5shana5 than the moderator of in_the_mix. it's much better that way.

PEACE

for me.. i dont really insert my pictures into rating communities for fear that i have a very low self-esteem and i dont need anyone tellin me i am uglier than i already am.. makes me feel bad.. so am I going to place a photo of myself in a community full of brutly minded and also closed minded people.. also i believe it to be conceded why do u need someone to tell you your beautiful as long as u feel like buck everyone else..

One of the moderators of that community is a Christian, but some of the things he's said about certain applicants haven't been Christ-like at all.

Rating communities, in general, are stupid.

they sure are.
I've come to the conclusion that a rating community is an oxymoron. We are suppose to commune by judging each other. haha

These communities simply bring out the ugly.
