Author's Note: Originally written for japanpeterpan, upon whose suggestion I cleaned it up and posted it here. It's also a bit on the angsty side, but not too much, I hope.

( Sometimes Saul steals Dale's glasses when he's asleep. )

Ah, so cute! I love Saul's whole talking in the mirror thing, I can totally picture it. Such a dork ^^ It reminds me of Stompe's drawing if him with the mirror. So adorable. Nice work(:

I need fanart (even if it's crappy MSPaint) of Saul with the cardigan and the dictionary. btw, your lil glasses MSPaint is tacked onto my desk and it makes me happy every time I look at itSo, I love the wordlessness of their love. I really do. It's as if not saying anything makes it all okay, Dale doesn't have to deal with "omg, GAY!!" and Saul doesn't have to make his fear of disdain-leading-to-abandonment so explicit. I think that's what's kind of 'angsty' about this fic... not that anything particularly sad happens, but this little anecdote draws attention to a certain pathos in Saul's character. Idk, I really love it, but it also makes me sad-- how he is aware that he is not the picture of success, how he doesn't want Dale to know about this awareness. I also like how Saul thinks that it's Dale's glasses that epitomize Success. Saul is perhaps the only person other than Angie who admires Dale in the film, and this fic, augh, it gets at that so. perfectly. Not-necessarily-warranted admiration is the very definition of love ( ... )

Hell yeah, cardigan. I'm picturing it being a very scholarly shade of pale yellow. Which of course begs the question of what he's doing with a pale yellow cardigan. Ten bucks says he 'borrowed' it from his Bubbe.
