Finally did my taxes. I don't know why I procrastinate like I do; I always get a federal refund and this year it's a substantial amount. And for once I didn't owe the state anything. Usually I have to pay a couple hundred bucks. Must be good and put the refund money into savings rather than go nuts at IKEA, though I really need a shoe rack.

I've yet to reach the point of feeling sorry for Torres yet, but I did find myself urging him to break his goal drought against Utd the other day - though that may have been become I dislike them more than him.

Of course I went and picked them out of the bin and made sure they were alive. It amuses me this is normal fare for Chinese seafood restaurants yet I wouldn't dream of going up to the tanks and picking out a specific fish or lobster at some fancy American restaurant.
okay, so the first thing that popped in my head was - "yea, of course, or they'll give you some dead thing." :x

Yesssss. We must make sure it's alive! But what does that mean? That we expect to get the best for what we pay for or that Chinese places can be shady and might try to trick you? O_O

Sea cucumber...I've held/poked one of those things and nooo....I loved the original Japanese Iron Chef and the only episode I couldn't watch was the sea cucumber episode and even the panel was grossed out. I had to change the channel, oh boy. To see it put in a blender. You're brave.
Sea urchin? This post makes me feel so unsophisticated~ How do you eat that? Just crack it open? Do you cook it??

Hehehe. It's slimy. Really, so if you're not into that texture don't eat it. But in all honesty it doesn't taste like much. Really depends on the sauce.
You crack the sea urchin open yup. That's what's inside. I had it sashimi style so no cooking, but people also cook it with egg and I hear that it's quite good though I have not tried it that way before.

Haven't had frog since I was a kid, but I heard it tastes like chicken? I love sea cucumber. Not sure what I like about it, but totally agree it's better soft than crunchy.
I only like to eat beans at restaurants. Not to say my parents don't make them well, it's just we don't have the wok/fire power to make them crunchy.

Frog tastes like frog to me. Not quite like chicken. Texturally they're very different, though I guess they're both mild flavored.
Wok power is what makes eating out worth it sometimes. Apparently, in restaurants, they do a quick frying of the beans before they stir fry them in order to make them crunchy yet not grassy.
