Yay, the day after tomorrow I am going to be in one of the coolest places in the world; Minneapolis. Oh yeah, I am writing about today. So let’s see, we started off the day at a breakfast restaurant at the hotel we were staying at. Technically most of the dishes had meat but luckily that was just because it had bacon or sausage so it was really ( Read more... )

When we travelled from Texas to California, this was pretty much my trip, except for the dog barfing and running out of gas, and the trucker with nothing but green stumps for teeth.

I'm so sorry I'm not going to see you and your mom and ad and sister at CC, but I will see you when you are on tour, and you can meet your "twin" (that's what your mom and I call you girls), Summer, again.

Did you like Killer Princesses? I know there's lots of swearing, but it's pretty funny. Summer really liked it. Probably because of the swears.

Some places still have rebel flag hanging still... Are these emblems of culture , viewpoints, tradition? What!? Why Persist with these symbols?

Your observation that the "Christian" symbol right on top of the "American" symbol freaks you out is well placed. Big word here --- CONFLATE--- look it up. That this juxtaposition totally negates all others in the US that are not Christian IS ... just ... wrong (the Buddish/ Jewhist speaks!)

I know what you mean. There's something unpleasant about the aggressiveness of the Jesusing. Your parents are right -- there are a lot of different kinds in the world, and it is often interesting to see where they are coming from -- but when it is a "my team wins, your team loses" kind of theology, it has turned away from being a statement about their life into being a statement about their superiority.

It is especially strange once you read the various stuff that Jesus was supposed to have taught.

And the never have a good reason why their Bible is TRUE and other books like the Koran are false.

That said, the more you travel, the more wacky and different and (frankly) interesting people you come across. And some of them are led by their religions to be better people than I am -- they will send a big percentage of their money to keep poor people alive or will adopt kids with profound disabilities.

You never know.
