Reborn Wiki Entry on Chrome Affiliation: Trainer; 'Lady' class.
Personality: When meeting Chrome, it's a little hard to believe that anything horrible has happened to her--minus the obvious missing eye. She is a very sweet, gentle young woman, but painfully shy. She's polite to a fault and never holds a grudge--in fact, you never really see her get angry. At all. Ever.
Before her accident, she was extremely antisocial, having no friends and spending most of her time isolated from others. Even after the accident she doesn't really go out of her way to include herself, though she takes her role as Mist guardian very seriously.
With Mukuro she is much more open, telling him everything, and caring for him deeply. Since it was Mukuro whose power allows her to keep living, she feels she literally owes her life to him and is extremely loyal to him. She's completely aware of what his attitude is to other people, but she keeps quiet about it; in fact, she doesn't even mind if Mukuro is just using her until he can get out of prison. Mukuro is a constant presence in her mind, with Mukuro's essence residing inside of her, and the two need each other to exist. "As long as Chrome is alive, Mukuro can exist, and as long as Mukuro exists, Chrome can continue living."
She sees Tsuna as her boss, and the first person who believed and accepted her as his guardian. However, she is extremely shy towards all the other members of the Vongola Mafia. In fact, she usually runs away from any sign of kindness or courtesy by them, or others, and gets confused by it, as she never imagined her existence actually meaning something to people. After being trained by Mammon and learning to better control her powers she's gained a little bit more spine and belief in herself. She feels part of the Vongola Family now, as opposed to an uninvited guest and has gained more confidence. For the most part though, she's still incredibly shy and keeps to herself.
Strengths/Weaknesses: Chrome is highly self-conscience about her powers and her limitations--she realizes she isn't as good as Mukuro, and often worries on if she can be deemed worthy of being the Mist Guardian, despite Tsuna's trust and belief in her. She is determined to hone her skills and make Tsuna proud, and Mukuro, proud.
Often it seems like she is a weak person, but far from it. She is capable of holding her own in fights, and doesn't back down when the going gets tough. She has a strong sense of protection towards those weaker than she is, especially animals as evidenced by her running into the street in order to save a cat from being hit from a car, at the expense of being hit herself; she's not afraid to put her life on the line for those she cares about.
Pokemon
Starter: A Murkrow that will be nicknamed Mukurou. He has a mean or possessive nature and likes to pick on Chrome constantly. However, Mukurou is extremely possessive over Chrome and will attack anyone who gets too close or is mean to her. It has the mentality of, "The only one allowed to be mean to her is me!"
Password: Salmon riceball!
Samples
(Please note that both samples must take place in Route_29’s setting.)
First Person Sample: Excuse me...? [Chrome fiddles with the communicator, surprised when she finds she managed to turn the video on.] Oh! Um, excuse me-- Boss? Mukuro-sama? Are you there?
[There's a cry from somewhere above Chrome and she looks up in surprise, dropping the device as a Murkrow pecks at her hand] Ah, I didn't mean you, Mukurou...
[She rubs rubs at her injured hand and sighs as Mukurou lands near the communicator; anyone watching will then be treated to an interesting battle as every time Chrome goes to retrieve it, the Murkrow snaps at her hand, preventing her from grabbing it.
Chrome give up after a few minutes of this and looks to the feed] Um, if you're there, please report in. This doesn't seem to be an illusion, but it could still be dangerous.
[Then the war over the communicator continues]
Third Person Sample: She felt...empty.
Upon arriving to this world, where ever and whatever it was, and being shoved out of the house by someone claiming to be 'mom,' given a ball that unleashed a creature not unlike an oversized crow, and told she could go home, it was hard to find the time to sit and think.
As she made up camp for the night, Chrome found herself finally able to collect her thoughts and sat to reflect on everything that had happened.
She concentrated for a full ten minutes trying to reach out and connect to Mukuro before the aching in her head forced her to stop and take a breather. There had been no answer, no familiar tug on her mind.
'Mukuro-sama is cut off again,' she thought as she undid the belt around her waist to lay more comfortably in her sleeping bag. Chrome's hand lingered over the red and white ball on the belt, plucking it off effortlessly. She was in the woods, completely alone, being comforted in knowing that, even without her powers, she still had something to help her defend herself-- and others.
Mukurou had never caused her any real harm other than some aching fingers, she recalled as she released the creature--a 'pokemon' is was called-- from its ball. Mukurou flapped his wings in a brief show of aggression and irritation, puffing up his chest feathers. Chrome didn't let it bother her; instead she slid into the bag and lay her head down, looking at the bird with her good eyes.
"I'm sorry. Would you mind being out to keep watch?"
"Muuurr!" The pokemon gave a huff, turning and taking to the lowest tree branch. As Mukurou began to preen, Chrome took that as a 'yes.'
"Thank you."
Tomorrow she would try to sense out Mukuro, the real one, before continuing her journey to the next town. She'd try to contact the others as well in the hopes of finding Bossy and her fellow guardians, to make sure they were alright, and then...
Chrome didn't really know what to do after that. She assumed Tsuna would give her some sort of order, or an idea to follow, and, hopefully, she'd get a better explanation of what was going on.
Her eyelids felt heavy, exhausted from a day of traveling and confusion. Tomorrow, hopefully, would bring some answers.
