Christmas Cards

Dec 08, 2008 16:41

So, most people on here would probably be getting Christmas cards, however, I've decided that they're mainly a pointless waste of paper, so in a bout of conscience have decided to donate the money I would normally spend on Christmas cards to charity. I haven't decided which one yet, so feel free to comment with suggestions.

Oxfam do a catalogue of gifts you can buy instead of cards...

We used to do it when I worked in the PC lab.

A very good idea. I'd rather do that, but sadly I don't see my family often, so they want a card and a letter (insert beating head against the wall here). How about helping sad Americans live in Britain? No? If I did it, I'd give pet food to the RSPCA because they always ask for it this time of year, and I prefer animals to people. The other one is the Salvation Army, as they ensure that families who register at Christmas time get a Christmas meal, and each child has a toy to open at Christmas.

I may have to join in on that idea. Personally I'd go for this one- http://www.justgiving.com/ehlersdanlos - but it's rather obscure so you might want something more popular

You can donate your Christmas card money to charity *and* send Christmas cards at the same time though.

In return for a donation to your favourite charity (over 200,000 to choose from) you can send as many personalised e-cards as you like on a date you choose and 121% of your donation will go to charity if you Gift Aid it.

So it's like helping charity, saving money and saving trees at the same time!

I'm sorry it doesn't help you choose a charity though. I usually go for the Dogs Trust.

You can find the cards at http://www.everyclick.com/charity-christmas
