If you can afford it, I would go for the BFA. Sounds like you'll be better prepared to get a good job as soon as you're out. Learn all you can while people are still throwing knowledge in your direction.

However, don't stay in for the references if it's going to make you crazy.

i don't think you'll be happy in the futeure if you leave here without having claimed an education. and i use the word "claim" because i read some feminist article about how student need to be more than just deposits of knowledge, and do readings, and ask for dialogue, and da da da. but that's a little off topic. I think that you will regret not having put yourself in a position where you can gain insights from all the intilectually diverse scholars and lectures and books around here. i mean, what's life after college anyways? i certainly don't know, so i'm going to get the most out of this while i can.

if what you want is an education you get from books, well, you have the rest of your life to read. and you can't get the credentials you want from reading books. i think that the best way to accomplish your goals is probably to get a BFA

also, the idea of getting out of here sooner and getting a better education really aren't (at this point) sanguine ((not the right word but the first that comes to mind))
you would probably only take 2, maybe 3 more classes, and in one semester. and that really isn't adding to your education any more than just reading eventually will. and the cool thing about college, too, is even if you don't have the time to read everything you want to read, you are constantly getting ideas of things to put on your book list, which you might actually eventually get to.
i hate the idea of running out of ideas of good things to read and just reading michael chriton for the rest of my life
anyways i'm ranting now

Is this mostly about if you want to pursue an art career? Are you thinking of getting a bachelor's in some other area, besides art? I would say stay in art for the BFA. The Allendale sculpture sounds really interesting. Where is it specifically going? Who is it for, and are you limited on subject matter? Is it going to be very abstract?

Thanks for showing me to Jill Egger's room. I got the transfer for intro painting. She said that she could only remember one other student getting a transfer in painting, and that was Dennis? And I was another. But I don't know how long she has been at GVSU.

I can't figure out what to do with my own self to finish my degree and occupy myself afterward, so I"m not sure I'm qualified to pass opinion for you! Sorry love...

but it does sound like the BFA would give you some really good potential options...

If you are thriving for technical skills, find an artist to apprentice under. If you are looking for more of the academic knowledge behind art, well, you are SMART. You don't need a class for that, you can do some of your own research. Maybe a study abroad in a artistically rich country, like Italy? Or just grab the books and digest. College education may be shit somedays, but at least there's a whole library to read...

So I guess I gave you my opinion anyway... so I'll give you one more. I think you and I should get together when this semester is done. That's all.

isamu noguchi says that if you want to be a great artist, study under a great craftsman. the ideas must always come from you.
