Why don't they just leave you alone?

So Mike wanted to break up and I let him. He calls me up on Sunday morning to say that he wanted to know how I was doing and that I was OK. I did not return his call. He called again in the evening to say pretty much the same thing and that he was worried about me. Again I ignored him. I got an email this morning from him in which he said:

It is good that you wrote the first email for your own benefit. We all have a right to our feelings, but that does not always justify our actions. Hurting someone else the same way we have been hurt will ultimately not make the situation or its participants better.

In the month after we broke up, I wrote an 1829-word email, theoretically addressed to my ex, to let her know how hurt I am. I will never send it, but I am glad I wrote it. I eventually started from scratch and wrote a 301-word email that I will probably send her someday...

Our hearts, brains, and egos seldom agree. You're making some tough decisions but I have faith you will make the right ones for you.

Well, let's put it this way... It's totally his loss, and I think he realizes it now, but it's probably too late...

Irrationality 101. Do thay teach that to sisters in schools?
