reburbs are ok as long as you get it from a legit dealer. Drew had a Vaio that lasted a while. My refurbed suxors for anything (I am sure you can remember my super slow dm computer....) So... If you aren't focusing on Gaming, almost any standard laptop will do. How intricate in your photomanip do you want to get?
I will ask Drew for suggestions and get back to you. He was recently in the market for one and got a sweet gaming laptop...
Gah... so. Drew says to give you mine. Yeah. Sorry, no help forthcoming yet. He prolly just said it as he passed his computer for the morning. :-P
Although... actually, mine just needs a little more memory and I am totally spoiled by the core duo processors of my mac so I may be exaggerating... Heh.
So, ya want mine? Needs a battery (About $80) though. Lemme know and we can talk.
k, Drew says: Refurbished only from Best Buy, otherwise get it new. No Celeron processors, try to get a Core Duo if you can. Expect about $400 or so for one that would work for you. Don't be tempted to buy the upgrades at Best Buy, if you want an upgrade, buy the separate parts at Fry's Electronics.
He also emphasizes that for this, Best Buy really is the best buy. Yeah, surprised him too.
