Did you ever catch the show Immigration Nation on SBS? I think you can still watch it on their site. Great doco, and goes a long way to provide back story to the overall Australian attitude to immigration and asylum seekers.

It's despicable how we treat them, especially when our asylum intake pales in comparison to countries like the US and UK...
