[Background]
Kagura is one of the Yato clan, a notorious alien tribe who is feared for their inhumane strength and even worse thirst for blood in the battlefield. She had lived a humble but happy life at her home planet until her older brother, Kamui, challenged their father to an out-dated Yato duel - where a child kills their parents to prove his or her strength. He sliced up their father’s arm but could have gotten himself killed if not for little Kagura pleading for them to stop. In the end of this little fiasco, Kamui left home, and Umibozu (their father) distanced away from his family as an after shock of almost murdering his son, going off to kill alien monsters to satisfy his blood lust. So Kagura was left alone with her sickly mother at a dump of a home. After her mother died, Kagura traveled to Earth, namely to Edo, to earn enough money to support her family.
While wondering the streets for jobs, she met some tugs who took advantage of the fact that she is a Yato, but when she was ordered to kill someone, Kagura ran away and literally ran into Gintoki and Shinpachi, the Yorozuya Gin-chan (General Job Gin-chan aka Odd Job Gin), who were on a scooter and ran her over in the streets. After the business with the tugs was done with, Kagura threatened her way into Yorozuya and ends up living in Gintoki’s closet. No seriously, in the closet.
So some time flew by before her father came rolling in and tried to make her go back home with him. He wasn’t too happy that she was living with a single, healthy male all this time either. 8D Kagura refused to, of course. She had finally gotten used to Earth and had formed a warm and definitely weird family-like relationship with Yorozuya gang. Then the daughter and the father brawled about that matter. Well, nothing life-threatening like Kamui’s was. But in any case, after dealing some damage to public facilities, Gintoki told her to go home, thinking that she’d be happier with her father. So Papi dragged her off to the spaceship terminal - and would have gotten away if not for a desperate Shinpachi there to stop her from leaving and … giant fucking space alien attacking the terminal. Aahh!! Umibozu and Kagura jumped into action and after watching Kagura getting tentacle attacked on an emergency news bulletin, so does Gintoki. He manages to save her from being an alien food and with Umibozu, beat the crap out of the abomination. After witnessing how much the Yorozuya cared about his daughter and reading a sweet letter Kagura planned to send to him, Umibozu told her daughter to stay with them, feeling albeit lonesome at the same time.
After another time skip, in Yoshiwara arc, the Yorozuya sneaked in the supposed Paradise to rescue the No.1 courtesan Hinowa for her long-lost son, Seita. But the whole district was ruled by Housen the Night King - a ruthless Yato who was quite famous in the shady business. While sneaking in, Yorozuya gang was faced with the three Yato space pirates: Abuto, Ungyou (the poor guy who got killed soon after), and … Kamui. The small encounter left Kagura shocked, if not slightly petrified. While still disturbed by her brother’s appearance, Kagura urges Gintoki with Shinpachi go ahead to Hinowa; they stayed behind to face one of the Yato, Abuto. Those two were no match for a seasoned fighter like Abuto, but when he tried killed Shinpachi, Kagura finally snapped. SNAPPED INTO A BATSHITTY CRAZY KILLING MATCHINE. But before she could end his life, Shinpachi stopped her - because he didn’t want his friend to be a murder. ;_______________; Glasses-kun, you’ve grown!
So after the Night King was defeated by Gintoki, she caught up with Kamui, screaming his name off angrily this time. Despite her injuries, she would have jumped on him if not for Shinpachi stopping her again. Kamui seemed like he was pleasantly surprised (“It looks like you got more energetic”) and before he went off to fetch Abuto, he told Gintoki to train Kagura and himself, and be ready for the next time they meet. Kagura’s oh-so-lovable brother then smiled and said that he wanted to kill the silver-haired samurai and that he had already marked him as the next prey. Sweet boy, isn’t he? But even after her encounter with her brother, Kagura’s journey continues … or something like that.
Now for relationships, fun! The closest to her is the Yorozuya gang and her father, of course. Even though her family is messed up, Kagura still cares for her father very much (she says when she is strong enough, she would like to go alien hunting with him to distant planets). And although she bad mouths her brother, Kagura deep down wants to rescue Kamui from self-destructiveness and turn him back into the brother she loved. Yorozuya is like a second family hands down. WOOT. Now while she maintain generally lively, friendly relationships with people she meets, she has a certain dislike for the Shinsengumi, often calling them tax robbers. She especially holds contempt for Okita Sougo whom butt heads with her in every occasion; Kagura calls him Sadi or Sadist. And Kondo is the Gorilla and Hijikata is the Nicotine Addicted Mayo (mayonnaise). Oh and don’t forget about Madao, the good for nothing old man Hasegawa! 8D
[Personality]
Kagura is a good kid. She would never break a promise, would repay her debts ten folds if needed, and she’s friendly enough with strangers. Hell, she can make friends pretty quickly. She’s also a persistent fighter, getting back every time she is knocked down. However, she has a short-temper, has tendency to be violent and a gluttonous stomach. Not to mention she’s a bit of a tomboy and a brat. But she is still just a kid - she can be naïve about many worldly things in life.
She also holds a stress of always holding back her tribe’s nature. This shows when she snaps into her berserker mode; she doesn’t care if her opponent dies. However, she always fights this nature, partially because she doesn’t want to become a second Kamui, but mostly because she wants to protect people instead of killing her opponents.
[Specialties/Abilities]
Although Kagura looks very human, she has the strength of a mountain gorilla. She has good aim and good speed to boot. Much like that certain super alien race, bullets doesn’t hurt her that much either. Even if she gets shot, her wounds heal very quickly.
Other than fighting abilities, she has the ability to sense out strong, dangerous people. She describes it as a dangerous smell, but I really doubt it’s an odor; it’s more like an animalistic instinct to be aware of enemies you can’t win against.
Oh… and does being able to eat an incredible amount of food count as ability?
[Affection] Uuhhh ... Anything is okay? >_>? Idk. If you wanna work something out, then I'm totally fine with it! And family-like affection is love. :3
[Fighting] It's get this on! >:/
[Other Facts]
• Kagura has stereotypical Chinese accent that makes her end sentences with “-aru.”
• She had a series of pets called Sadaharu plus their number. However, she always winded up killing them because of her massive, uncontrollable strength. The only pet to avoid this frightening end was Sadaharu the giant dog. It made her happy that Sadaharu could handle her rough handlings.
• Only disadvantage of being a Yato is that you couldn’t be out in the sun for too long unprotected. Their skin is super sensitive to sun and unless they have their umbrella, they can’t go outside. Thus she has a cool umbrella that can reflect and shoot bullets. 8D
• She never went to school because her family had no money and Gintoki also has no money. Ah, the woes of being poor.
• Finally, Kagura has the honorable position of being the first Jump heroine to ever throw up in the manga.
