First of all, I can't imagine anyone making something like that up randomly, so I'd lean towards it being true.

But love, there are people WAY more fucked-up than you who have much flimsier excuses for it. So, second option? Is good.

And to end on a light note...

Random scary thought: if I could forget about/block out something like that, what else happened to me that I don't know about?
