Kristen Stewart has been cast as Bella Swan in the Twilight movie.
Fans everywhere are devastated. They wanted Emily Browing from Lemony Snicket fame.
1. Kristen Stewart doesn't look enough like what the fans envisioned Bella to look like. Well, so what? Few book characters do when they are translated from book to movie.
2. Kristen Stewart is depressing in most of her roles. That's because most of her roles are angsty, troubled teens. Bella is a slightly depressed, troubled teen. Duh.
I personally think Kristen Stewart is a great choice for the role. So, she's not a cutesy as Emily Browning, but she can bring a lot to the table, as long as the directors don't screw it up. Kristen is a lot tougher and brings a sense of strength to her parts that Emily doesn't. Emily has a lot of warmth, but she comes off a little bit weaker, I personally think, than Kristen, in her acting roles, not to say that she's not a good actress. Emily just plays the damsel in distress a little better. Kristen does not. A lot of the critics of the Twilight saga have said that Bella is too much of a victim and that her relationship with Edward borders on abusive, that Edward just tells her what to do all the time and that she just follows orders. Kristen, as an actress, isn't going to bring that out in Bella. Emily might have. I think that Kristen is a wise choice for Bella.
