Who is Barack Obama? Political ramble.

I got this email from a well-meaning friend of mine. I promptly pulled up snopes.com and searched it, finding loads and loads of research and supporting articles to tell her that this was a load of smack against the Democratic party. I send it to her, letting her know that this was a chain letter in an attempt to scare her into voting Republican. I didn't tell her who I am planning on voting for. I don't care if she votes Republican, but I want her to give the Democrats a fair chance, not disregard them because her pastor told her she'd go to hell if she voted for them.

I don't have a problem with people who believe in the Republican Party. It takes a lot to stand up for what you believe in. I respect that because I believe in the addage: If you don't believe in something, you'll fall for anything; like a stupid, poorly-researched email saying that Barack Obama is an evil Muslim and that Muslims don't deserve any power, especially in America, because America is the promised land, aka Israel, and we're all supposed to be Christian, here. That's just racism, people. We can get along if we believe we can.

The two-party system in wrecking America. Seriously. Just look at what's happened since 9-11.

What pisses me off is that she got this from her minister. What the hell, people? The gist of this email is basically telling her which political party to vote for, not that it's any of her choice now, is it?

I saw almost the exact same thing with John Edwards in 2004- that he was to blame for the flu vaccine shortage. Complete bullshit. John Edwards did no such thing. The flu virus mutated so quickly that year that it couldn't be cultivated in the eggs so it could be grown into vaccines. That strain of the flu virus was useless. THAT's what caused the shortage, it was mother nature. Nature has a way of outsmarting us, no matter how hard me try. It wasn't John Edwards getting the flu after getting a flu shot and suing the company that made it.

Does anybody see a pattern here? Every election year, a Democratic candidate is wholly evil, which is only debunked in an email? Oh, I do. Now, people can't even give either party a chance because they're afraid they'll go to hell if they vote against what their pastor tells them.

I personally think that the person who's creating these emails is trying to get people to vote Republican by scaring them by their own religion. That's not very Christian, when you think about.

Let people think for themselves, damnit!

As for ministers sending their parishoners this poorly researched bullshit, stop telling them they're not Christian if they vote Democrat. They're being more Christian than you by not brainwashing people and scaring people with "you'll go to hell if..." It's more Christian to let people chose for themselves. God let us chose for ourselves, why won't you?

political ramble, obama is not a muslim
