even if the sun is shinin' i can't avoid the lightnin'

just a couple of days ago, i was debating writing a bitchy post about how southern californians are babies when it comes to the weather. one grey day and the news is screaming "STORMWATCH!!" we've seen the madTV sketch, haven't we? we behave like we're going to drown in twenty-foot waves ploughing through the downtown area.

"it's not evil spirits, it's rain. raaaain. fine, try to kill it."

and then, like, yesterday, i went totally californian. as the lot of us killed time in an open parking structure, i cowered inside jordon's car, gobbling candy and squealing whenever the lightning appeared to strike mere meters away from us, curling up whenever the thunder rattled the windshield.

my neck, back, and shoulders hurt. i don't know why. might have something to do with going to the dentist today. two of my fillings* broke, so i went and had them fixed. the shots are wearing off now so i can feel my face again, sort of. as much as i like to talk and eat, i absolutely hate having my mouth open for so long. friggin' dentist.

good news, i finished the curious incident of the dog in the nighttime and it was splendid. i wish i were as good at math as the autistic kid in the book. then again, math is infinitely boring. now i am reading bagombo snuffbox, which is a vonnegut short-stories collective. i'm on the fourth story out of, say, twenty-seven. i like them all so far, naturally. can't go wrong with vonnegut.

cliffs:
1. rain's not scary
2. thunder IS scary
3. going to the dentist HURTS
4. i like books
5. . . .
6. profit
