Question of the day

Apr 22, 2003 22:11

Since my earlier question wasn't answered...I'll pose a new one. Is it better to have tried to go for your dream...or have someone you know, let you know that you really aren't good at said dream before you make a fool out of yourself. I'm kinda voting for someone letting you know before hand. But I become more reserved as I age...so if I were ( Read more... )

Well fuck me, what an impossible question *gggrrrrr* Well between you and I, that would be a nil question. You've always wanted to be a writer. I am totally devoted to you, so I don't know if your writing is good or not. I know I am partial, so my opinion is biased. However...seems like I've spent years pushing you toward your dreams. It never once crossed my mind that you might not be good at said dream because I think you are perfect.

I never thought it was good for you to be a psychologist though. You are too much like me in speaking your mind and being brutally honest. The thought of some poor bastard pouring their heart out to you ALWAYS cracked me up. I could see you going "oh you think YOU'VE got problems" or, better yet, dying laughing at the most inapropiate moment hee hee.

I would want someone to tell if my dream was hopeless. But if I really believed in myself, I wouldn't listen.

I answered your first question, but Caroline posed it in the form of a poll on her journal, and I answered it there thinking you would see it, but guess not.

To answer this one though, I think no matter what your age, it is better to at least attempt to reach the goal yourself (unless you're Yoko Ono trying to become the next American Idol). No one but you knows what you are really capable of.

You recently graduated from A&M, yes? Did you believe you could do it? Did anyone you know try to hold you down? My uncle who is pushing 60 years old, decided about ten years ago to go back to school and get a degree. How many 60 year olds do you know who are going to college? He isn't taking a full load, or anything. Just going along at a pace that's right for him. But back about last semester, he made the dean's list. How about that!?

The phrase "If at first you don't succeed, try and try again" comes to mind. I think that if you want something bad enough, no matter what it is, sooner or later, you will accomplish it. (Unless ( ... )

I think we all fall somewhere between the two, it makes us feel better to achieve something that those around us (and we ourselves) do not think we are capable of.
Doing something everyone knows we can do is so predictable.
So I say go for the dream.

I definitely think its always better to have tried for a dream! yes! of course, because at the end of the day, its your dream, there are times when you count on your friends to tell you when you are about to do something really stupid. but in a case like this, I dont think that applies, when it comes to the dreams you have for yourself, you definitely need to just do it! you can look back and be proud with yourself that you tried it and learn from the experience regardless of the outcome :)
