My Syn Brain and Pink Floyd
I’ve been a fan of PF for quite some time now, much because of my dads fanboy-y nature; every time he discovers something great, it’s physical impossible for him to not bug me with it. He started to try to make me into a fan at the age of six; I don’t think I need to tell you I didn’t like it. And since he was my dad after all, I refused to try too. Anyway, seven years later he starts over again and I finally give in and watch ‘The Wall’ for the nth time. Since I was much older this time I actually understood it and discover that the music was absolutely amazing. Not only does it sounds good, it looks good too!
Now let me tell you something about myself. Long story short, I have something that’s called Synesthesia. When you have Synesthesia some of your senses are jointed together. There are many variations: Someone sees smells or taste shapes. I see some sounds, mostly music, but also words and voices. if you want to know more, google it.
What I wanted to show you was what I see when I listen to Pink Floyd. One of the many reasons I love them is because of what I see when I listen to their music.
High Hopes
High Hopes. Only the name is beautiful, kind of round and blue. This picture was one of the hardest I’ve ever done. The picture in my head was very clear, but no matter how and I tried I just couldn’t manage to get it right. The angle and perspective is different; like you’re standing on the top of that…hemisphere-thing, with the light to your left and the darkness to your right. Hard to describe, I guess you have to be in my head to get it.
Echoes
This picture was also very clear and I think I actually got very close to the image behind my eyes. Again, this was one of those moving pictures, like a film. At least the colors look right to me.
Comfortably Numb
No picture in the world could make justice to what I see when I hear this song. And I feel guilty for making such a 2D and flat thing like this. And this is just the singing; I’d never dare to try to paint the guitar-solo…
