Character: Euphemia li Britannia
Fandom: Code Geass
Personality: In many ways, Euphemia is the walking stereotype of a princess. She's gentle natured, kind, wishes peace for all, and willing to sacrifice herself for the safety and happiness of others. Because these things are all true about her, it could be easy to dismiss her as a shallow person, or a person lacking depth of personality. However these qualities only paint a partial picture of this passionate young woman who, despite her short tenure as a player on the world stage, was able to drastically influence the lives of many. And although she was ultimately despised and posthumously stripped of her royal rank, it remains very obvious that had Lelouch's Geass not interfered, Euphemia might have been as much of a force for peace as her sibling.
Foremost, it is important to remember that Euphie is still a sixteen year old princess. She has many girlish behaviors like talking and playing with animals, and speaking dreamily about matters of love. (To Suzaku, "Unrequited love is the mark of a kind person.") She wants to be seen as a person rather than the title of Third Princess, and does not believe herself to be better than any others, including Elevens (Japanese). She is always putting others before herself, right from her very moment of introduction when Suzaku catches her and she apologizes for not anticipating someone being below when she climbs and then falls out of the window above. When she's trying to achieve something, her dedication to her goal can lead her to be impulsive. Her sweet nature is even a brief match for the murderous rage inflicted upon her by Lelouch's Geass, where he had previous considered resistance impossible.
Euphemia was brought up largely sheltered from the political world, and it's stated that she was kept from public view while she was growing up. This contributes in a lot of ways to her idealistic nature, in that events which would've caused her distress (the military involvement and invasion of the Areas and the casualties associated with) were likely presented to her with a propagandist, pro-Britannian spin. Without the direct exposure to the visceral reality of an ongoing war of colonization, it strengths her ideals that everything should be able to be resolved through diplomacy. This upbringing sets her apart from her elder siblings, most of whom are extremely militaristic-minded. It's actually surprising to note that the ones she's closest to (Cornelia, Schneizel, and Clovis) are all heavily influenced by battle and strategy, as Euphemia may see herself as a peaceful foil to them. Her family and friends are supremely important to her and she will go to any length to protect them. Later in the series it is revealed that Lelouch and Euphemia might have been sweethearts at some time in the past (despite being half-siblings) and Lelouch implies Euphie might have been his first love. During the series however, Euphemia develops romantic feelings for Kururugi Suzaku, whom she later appoints as her personal Knight despite strong resistance from her family and the general perception of the Britannian people.
This is where the depth of Euphemia's personality is truly brought to light. Because unlike a princess whose might only wish/hope/pray for better circumstances, Euphie takes a very active role in improving the lives of the people around her. Rather than tour Area 11 on her arrival, she contrives a situation which leads to Suzaku escorting her, allowing her to understand Japan from a position not encumbered by her royal status. She wants to learn about the good parts and the bad (Shinjuku) because she believes that in order to change for the better, problems cannot be hidden or ignored. Euphemia has a strong sense of justice and morality, and although she strives to always reach the peaceful solution to a problem, she's also not blind to the concept that peace must sometimes be won through conflict. So while she remains optimistic in almost every situation and will not let her integrity be compromised, she's also able to make educated and logical decisions when called for.
Even though Euphemia isn't seen by others to be headstrong, she has a quiet and firm resolve that allows her to achieve her aims. In contrast to family like Cornelia who is brash and loudly commanding, or Lelouch who is blatantly Machiavellian, this princess uses kindness and mercy as her tour de force. She inspires people and leads by example, and in doing so brings about incredible loyalty and devotion; both Lelouch and Suzaku are so galvanized by her death that it literally brings to a head the world's conflict.

On the days when the sun shone it was beautiful and warm, like paradise, but when it rained it brought only chill and gloom. She hoped the pelting rain was not damaging the flowers in the garden she loved so much.
"Your Highness?" A gentle prompt came from her tutor standing nearby, and Euphemia redirected her attention back to the ledger in front of her. As part of her schooling as decided by the Emperor, she was to memorize all the figures relating to every major battle fought and won by Britannia since its reign came to power. Faced with the cold and unfeeling numbers reporting the deaths, captures, and executions of the Numbers in each Area, she had let her mind drift for a brief respite. Now she focused her violet eyes on her tutor and nodded slightly.
"I was just thinking about the current campaign," she said. "It's going very well, isn't it?"
"Her Highness' sister Princess Cornelia has a brilliant military mind," the tutor assured her. Euphemia recalled he was some sort of retired general. "No rabble of desperate Numbers could stand against her and the might of the Britannian army."
"Of course," Euphemia murmured, turning the page in her book. She felt extremely conflicted, but knew better than to show it. If Cornelia crushed the enemy resistance and secured Britannia's place of sovereignty in this new Area, she could return to the Imperial City that much sooner, and Euphie wanted very much to see her elder sister again. Yet knowing what had been done to accomplish that return...
"I am done studying for today," she said, standing and looking at the tutor. Despite the kind and gentle demeanor she possessed, there was no doubt that also had the same regal bearing as the rest of the Royal family. Despite there being nearly an hour of the lesson left, the tutor merely swallowed and nodded.
"Of course, Highness."
Euphemia left the military ledger on the desk and left the library wing.

I understand that this abduction may have been done in to further your purposes, but it's of utmost importance that I be returned immediately, for the sake of Britannia's integrity and for the benefit of the Japanese people.

Please, I'm sure you can understand my position. I've promised those very dear to me that I would follow through with the Special Administrative Zone, and I cannot do that here.
